While the bowls have been fun, we’re all waiting for the College Football Playoffs to return.Â
On Wednesday night and Thursday, we’ve got four quarterfinal matchups on the slate. It truly doesn’t get any better than this!
In the First Round, there were multiple matchups with teams not even in a Power-4 conference. However, the quarterfinals only have high-level teams. It’ll make for some great finishes.
With that, join us as we review some CFP player props for the CFP Quarterfinals.
CFP Quarterfinals Prop Bets At-a-Glance
On New Year’s Eve, the Miami Hurricanes will play the Ohio State Buckeyes at 7:30 pm ET. Miami really struggled to score against Texas A&M in the First Round, but played very well defensively in the win. They’ll need to dominate defensively again to have a chance against the Buckeyes.
Then, on New Year’s Day, Oregon will take on Texas Tech, Alabama will face Indiana, and Ole Miss will take on Georgia. All three games have spreads no higher than -7. We’re looking at some potentially tight and to-the-wire finishes.Â
Miami’s Malachi Toney Under 70.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
Cotton Bowl: Miami Hurricanes vs. Ohio State Buckeyes – December 31, 7:30 PM ET
The Ohio State Buckeyes have become one of the best defenses in college football this season. The defense has allowed just 8.15 points per game and 129.08 yards per game in the air this season.Â
Miami’s offense has scored more than 32 points per game. But Carson Beck and the offense really struggled against Texas A&M last time out. In fact, Miami scored only ten points, and Beck threw for just 103 yards.
Malachi Toney had five grabs for just 22 yards, earning just 4.4 yards per catch in that game. It won’t be any easier against Ohio State.
Indiana’s Elijah Sarratt Over 61.5 Receiving Yards (-120)
Rose Bowl: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Indiana Hoosiers – January 1, 4:00 PM ET
Elijah Sarratt has missed this line in three consecutive games. But Indiana’s offense could simply break out against Alabama this week.
Alabama has a weak pass rush that should give Fernando Mendoza enough time in the pocket to make good throws. After all, Mendoza won the Heisman Award and was the best player in college football this season.
Sarratt averaged 12.7 yards per catch over his last ten games and has earned about five catches per game in that stretch. That would average out to 63.5 yards. But as I said, he’s got more potential just based on the fact that Alabama’s pass rush isn’t what we’re generally used to seeing.
More time in the pocket will allow Mendoza to find his favorite receiver downfield.
Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss Over 248.5 Passing Yards (-115)
Sugar Bowl: Ole Miss Rebels vs. Georgia Bulldogs – January 1, 8:00 PM ET
Trinidad Chambliss has added at least 249 passing yards in ten of his last 11 games. He finished with 282 yards against Tulane after finishing with a 93.3 QBR in the First Round matchup.
Chambliss has averaged more than 33 pass attempts per game. He’ll likely have even more attempts against Georgia since Ole Miss is currently an underdog against the Bulldogs.
Plus, Chambliss has completed over 65% of his passes over the last ten games and has averaged 14 yards per completion.
Against Georgia, he might not be as accurate. But if Ole Miss finds itself trailing, he’ll have to throw a lot, which will help him get to 249+ passing yards. In addition, like Alabama, Georgia’s pass rush isn’t grading out well analytically. That certainly favors Chambliss as well.
