Saturday Football: Best Bets for the Divisional Round

Bo Nix #10 of the Denver Broncos gestures in the second half against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Saturday Divisional Round slate in the NFL features two intriguing matchups. At 4:30 pm ET, the Buffalo Bills will battle the Denver Broncos on CBS. Following that matchup, it’ll be a divisional rivalry between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks are favored by seven points, despite Sam Darnold being listed as questionable with an injury. However, the Broncos are just 1.5-point favorites at home over the Bills. Both of these games should be absolutely electric.

Let’s break down the NFL Saturday divisional round picks and odds below.

Best Bets for Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos

The Buffalo Bills are consistently in the playoffs. However, they’ve struggled to reach the Super Bowl. Ultimately, the Kansas City Chiefs were a little bit better than them in most seasons. But this year, the Chiefs aren’t in the playoffs. This is the Bills’ chance to create history for the franchise.

That said, the Chiefs had a bad season, but the Bills haven’t been elite, either. Buffalo finished the season with 11 wins and escaped last week with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The defense has struggled with coverage and has missed a ton of tackles this year.

It’s one of the reasons why the Bills are underdogs ahead of this matchup.

Let’s talk about the NFL betting picks for this game below.

Saturday Odds (Broncos -1.5)

The Denver Broncos opened at -1.5 (+100) against the spread. While the spread hasn’t changed, the odds have. The Broncos are now -1.5 (-110) against the spread. It looks like the sharps are banking on the Broncos at home after a bye week

The Broncos have allowed only 311 points in 17 games this season. The defense has been remarkable. However, the Bills have added 508 points in 18 games this season. Buffalo’s offense, behind Josh Allen, is still lethal and should succeed against the Broncos’ defense.

Denver’s overall better defensively, but still has issues with tackling. Plus, the Broncos aren’t nearly as good on offense, scoring just 401 points in the 17 games played.

Meanwhile, the total has adjusted from 46.5 at open to 45.5.

Saturday Picks (Broncos -1.5)

The Broncos are hosting their first playoff game in a decade. You best believe the defense will step up in this one. Meanwhile, I already discussed the Bills’ defense.

Buffalo has allowed 21.61 points per game this season and has given up 137.17 yards on the ground per game. The Broncos should sustain success on the ground, which will open up the entire playbook and wear down the Bills.

Seattle’s Kenneth Walker Over 57.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

We need to add a pick for the 49ers-Seahawks game, too!

Kenneth Walker added 97 rushing yards against the San Francisco 49ers just two weeks ago. He finished with 16 rushing attempts and averaged more than six yards a carry, despite playing only 42% of snaps in that game.

The 49ers have an overrated defense. For one, the defense had its fair share of injuries to star players this year. In addition, PFF grades the 49ers as below average in tackling and run defense.

Walker has only seen about 41% of snaps over the last two games. But with the playoffs in sight, expect Walker to see more playing time and earn more rushes. He’s had a long rush average of 21.1 yards per game over the last ten games. A couple of breakout runs and he’ll get to at least 58 rushing yards.

Enjoy Playoff Football!

The NFL playoff games were pretty exciting in the Wild Card Round. There were a bunch of close games that went down to the wire late. We can expect more of that this week, with all spreads at one possession or fewer this weekend.

I added a best bet in the Bills-Broncos game and provided a player prop for the 49ers-Seahawks game. You can tail those or consider adding other bets with our offshore partners today.
