Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, January 1, 2023 – 01:00 PM EST at Raymond James Stadium
Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
- Over 58.5 Receiving Yards
When these teams met in Week 7, Mike Evans dropped what could have easily been a 64-yard touchdown on the opening drive. That mistake seemed to set the tone for the day as the Buccaneers would never seriously threaten again in a shocking 21-3 loss.
But now things do not look so shocking with the way Tampa has continued to struggle through December. The Tom Brady-Evans connection has been at its worst this season, but even after that drop, Evans still finished with 96 yards on 15 targets in that game.
Evans has only hit 59 yards twice in his last seven games, but he has drawn some tough matchups with the 49ers and Cardinals. With the Panthers, they are down corner Jaycee Horn, who had wrist surgery this week.
The Pick
Evans has gone over 60 yards in six straight meetings against Carolina, including all four with Brady as his quarterback. Look for the two to get back on track this week and for Evans to go over 58.5 yards in this one for your NFL picks.
NFL Prop Pick: Mike Evans Over 58.5 Receiving Yards (-110) at Bet365
New Orleans Saints vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, January 1, 2023 – 01:00 PM EST at Lincoln Financial Field
Andy Dalton (New Orleans Saints)
- Over 0.5 Passes Intercepted
With New Orleans this season, Andy Dalton has the third-lowest interception rate (2.4%) of his career, but he still only ranks 23rd in the league in that stat. He has been intercepted in 3-of-5 road games this year. The Eagles picked him off once in their last meeting in 2020 when Dalton was in Dallas.
Regardless of what is going on with the quarterback position in Philadelphia, the defense is still going to show up at home with the No. 1 seed not yet clinched. The defense has 16 interceptions and has done a good job of keeping most quarterbacks down on the stat sheet this year.
The Pick
With the Eagles expected to still score well even if it is Gardner Minshew in place of Jalen Hurts again, Dalton should be put in a position where he is playing from behind on the road against a very good pass rush.
We like his chances of getting intercepted at least once in this matchup. The Eagles have at least one takeaway in every game but one this year.

Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions
Sunday, January 1, 2023 – 01:00 PM EST at Ford Field
Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions)
The only team to allow more points this season than Detroit is Chicago, so it could be a wild one when the two meet in the dome this weekend, with the Lions still holding out hope for the playoffs.
But the dome has been great for Jared Goff this year, who has thrown 20 touchdowns in home games, compared to just six touchdown passes on the road.
The Pick
Amon-Ra St. Brown has caught six touchdowns this year and they were all in home games.
He had 10 catches for 119 yards in Chicago in Week 10, and he is still looking for his first touchdown against the Bears in what will be his fourth meeting with them in two years.
Look for St. Brown to put on a show at home one more time this year and to find the end zone against one of the worst defenses in the league.
NFL Prop Pick: Amon-Ra St. Brown Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-105) at Bet365
Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, January 1, 2023 – 01:00 PM EST at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium
Travis Kelce (Kansas City Chiefs)
How good has Kelce’s season been? He has not scored a touchdown in the last four games, yet he is still tied with Davante Adams for the league lead with 12 receiving touchdowns.
Jerick McKinnon has been stealing a lot of the touchdowns for the Chiefs in the last month, but Kelce is a great choice to get back to the end zone at home this week against Denver. Patrick Mahomes threw three touchdowns in Denver in Week 14, and Kelce surprisingly was not on the receiving end of any of them.
The Pick
As teammates, Mahomes and Kelce have never gone five straight full games without connecting on a touchdown. In 2019, Kelce technically had a five-game scoreless streak, but the fifth game was in Denver when Mahomes left in the second quarter with a dislocated kneecap. So, this would be their longest drought ever together.
But the Rams just scored 51 points on the Broncos, who fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett, and the Chiefs are coming off an underwhelming win over Seattle where the offense failed to crack 300 yards for the first time in 2022.
Look for Mahomes and Kelce to get back to their scoring ways in this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens
Sunday, January 1, 2023 – 08:20 PM EST at M&T Bank Stadium
Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh Steelers)
- Under 0.5 Passes Intercepted
Kenny Pickett’s first taste of the Steelers-Ravens rivalry lasted eight snaps in Week 14 after he suffered the second concussion of his rookie season on a sack.
Pickett is back and he is coming off a game-winning touchdown drive against the Raiders. Pickett has only thrown one interception in his last six games since the bye week as he has really cleaned that up.
Pickett is fairly decisive with the ball and will take a sack instead of forcing a bad throw like he did early in the season. It also helps that the Steelers have not been playing teams capable of putting up 35-plus points, so the games have been closer and manageable.
The Pick
But the main reason to like Pickett to not throw an interception this week is that interceptions were the reason the Steelers lost to Baltimore in Week 14. Mitch Trubisky came off the bench and threw three of them despite otherwise playing a really good game.
But those picks were killers, and everyone in Pittsburgh knows that. The Ravens have a good defense, but Trubisky’s three interceptions are the only picks they have in their last five games.
Look for Pickett to do his best to protect the ball and hope to pull out a low-scoring win in Baltimore.
