This is one of two games on Wednesday night that both go at 7:00 PM ET, so make sure to get down before kickoff. Delaware checks in with a 3-2 mark on the season and is 2-2-1 against the number. The Blue Hens lost a 27-24 decision to Western Kentucky last week as 2½ point home chalk.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville State is 3-3 on the season but has failed to cover in its last four contests, including a 29-27 win over Sam Houston last week as a touchdown road favorite. Even though we have a matchup featuring two cellar-dwellers, that doesn’t mean we can’t find a way to make money in our best bets for Wednesday. UTEP has been nothing short of abysmal this season, as evidenced by its 1-5 straight-up record and 2-4 ATS mark. In their last contest, the Miners failed to generate any significant offense and dropped a 19-8 decision to Liberty as two-point home underdogs.
Whatever derogatory comments can be said of UTEP apply even more to Sam Houston. The Bearkats are winless this season after six games and are just 1-5 against the spread according to the NCAAF odds. In their last appearance, the Kats took a gritty 29-27 loss to Jacksonville State but covered as seven-point dogs.
I believe we will see more of that grit tonight, which is why Sam Houston is one of tonight’s NCAAF picks. Last year, at about this time, these two teams met, and Sam Houston walked away with a convincing 41-21 victory over UTEP, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they win this one outright. The Bearkats have a far superior defense, and that alone should keep this one within the margins.
