WNBA Top Picks for August 24: Mitchell Must Do It All For The Fever

Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever shoots the ball against Kiki Iriafen of the Washington Mystics during the second half

The Indiana Fever enter Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Lynx severely shorthanded, with five players sidelined, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham.

Clark is nursing a groin injury and ankle bone bruise with no set return date, while Cunningham’s season ended earlier this month.

Despite the setbacks, Indiana remains above .500 and in the playoff picture, but depth is a major concern. The Lynx, sitting at 29-7, are expected to welcome back MVP frontrunner Napheesa Collier, who hasn’t played since early August.

On Friday, Minnesota edged the Fever 95-90 behind Kayla McBride’s 29 points, but with Collier back, the challenge for Kelsey Mitchell and the Fever becomes even tougher tonight.

Let’s give it a closer look before heading to the top-rated sportsbooks.

Indiana Fever vs. Minnesota Lynx

Sunday, August 24, 2025 – 07:00 PM EDT at Target Center

Kelsey Mitchell will have to do it all for the Fever to remain in this game against the Lynx. She’s not usually a great passer. But she’s added at least five assists in three straight games.

Consider her at Caesars Sportsbook (check our Caesars Sportsbook Review) to add at least five assists.

On the other hand, with Collier back, McBride likely won’t get the same volume she was getting earlier. She’s hit at least three three-pointers in only 48% of games this season.

Let’s fade her tonight.

Kelsey Mitchell Must Do It All!

The Fever don’t have many key pieces right now. Therefore, Mitchell must fill up the box score.

She’s done plenty of scoring. Yet, she’s also added a ton of assists over the last handful of games. Mitchell has earned at least five assists in four of her last five games.

She’s also hit this line in six of her last eight games.

Ultimately, she’s averaged more than five assists per game over the last ten. Yet, she’s turned the ball over just 2.1 times per game during that stretch.

In addition, Mitchell will face a Minnesota team that actually ranks 10th in assists allowed to shooting guards this season. Mitchell had five assists against the Lynx on Friday. There’s a good chance she’ll do it again tonight. The ball will be in her hands a lot.

Less Volume For Kayla McBride!

Kayla McBride nailed four three-pointers against the Fever after the Lynx scored 95 points in their win.

However, Napheesa Collier is expected to return to the lineup tonight. Collier might not play 30+ minutes. But when she’s out there, she’ll get many chances to score.

Again, she’s the leading scorer on the Lynx and was in line to win the MVP before her injury. With a solid finish to the season, Collier will still win the MVP.

McBride has added at least three three-pointers in five of her last ten games. But she’s hit this line in just 48% of games this season. It just goes to show you that she struggled to hit this line more when Collier was on the floor.

Take her under for threes tonight. Let’s go 2-0 to close out the weekend.
