Provides lift off bench
Williams produced 20 points (8-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five assists, two steals and one rebound across 23 minutes during Saturday's 122-109 win over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
After scoring in single digits in three straight games, during which he shot just 33.3 percent from the field, Williams bounced back Saturday. The 26-year-old point guard finished as Dallas' second-leading scorer, leading the bench in points, assists and steals. He has come off the bench in six consecutive contests, averaging 10.5 points, 4.7 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 20.7 minutes per game over that stretch.
Dec 4, 2025
Struggles again Wednesday
Williams racked up seven points (3-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes during Wednesday's 118-108 victory over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Williams scored single digits for the second straight game, both of which he has played fewer than 15 minutes. With Ryan Nembhard thriving as the new starting point guard, Williams has seemingly taken a back seat, resulting in a dip in his production. In four games over the past week, Williams has averaged just 8.5 points, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 19.2 minutes per contest.
Dec 1, 2025
Available to play
Williams (adductor) is available for Monday's matchup with the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Williams will power through the adductor issue and he should see his usual minutes Monday night. Williams is averaging 11.1 points, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season.
Nov 30, 2025
Questionable against Denver
Williams is questionable for Monday's game against the Nuggets due to a left adductor strain.
ANALYSIS
Williams dealt with a back issue over the last week, but he is now in jeopardy of missing Monday's contest due to an adductor injury. If he is unable to go, Jaden Hardy and D'Angelo Russell could see extra time at point guard.
Nov 30, 2025
Hits for 14 points off bench
Williams logged 14 points (5-14 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), one rebound, seven assists, one block and three steals over 26 minutes during Saturday's 114-110 victory over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Williams provided solid backcourt support in the win, marking his second consecutive game with the second unit. The decision to start Ryan Nembhard over Williams appears to be a permanent one despite four consecutive double-digit scoring totals over the past week. His average of 4.1 assists per game is a little low for a starting point guard, and that's a likely reason for the switch.
Nov 28, 2025
Heading to bench Friday
Williams is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Williams will head to the bench since head coach Jason Kidd has decided to start Ryan Nembhard at point guard instead. Williams is averaging 8.6 points, 2.1 assists, 1.6 boards and 1.8 steals per game when playing off the bench.
Nov 25, 2025
Plays 21 minutes as starter
Williams closed with 12 points (4-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, five assists and one steal over 21 minutes during Monday's 106-102 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Williams shook off a questionable tag to suit up Monday, but he played only 21 minutes as a starter. He's played 28 or fewer minutes in four of his past five games, and rookie Ryan Nembhard, who returned to action Monday and dished out seven assists, could start to eat into Williams' minutes even more if he continues to struggle with his shot. Williams is shooting only 28.8 percent from the field over that aforementioned five-game stretch.
Nov 24, 2025
Good to go Monday
Williams (back) is available for Monday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Williams is dealing with back tightness, but he's giving it a go for the injury-riddled Mavericks on Monday. The guard has averaged 11.8 points, 4.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 24.8 minutes per game across his last 13 outings, making him worth streaming in most fantasy leagues.
Nov 24, 2025
Seen at shootaround Monday
Williams (back) was present for Monday's shootaround against the Heat, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams is in danger of missing his first game this season, but his attendance in Monday morning's shootaround is an encouraging sign that he may still suit up. If Williams is downgraded to out prior to tipoff, D'Angelo Russell and Jaden Hardy will likely see extended playing time as a result.
Nov 23, 2025
Iffy for Monday
Williams (back) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Williams is dealing with low-back tightness and is in jeopardy of missing his first game since Oct. 27. If the 26-year-old point guard is ultimately ruled out, D'Angelo Russell and Jaden Hardy are candidates for increased playing time.
Nov 23, 2025
Improved offensive effort
Williams racked up 18 points (6-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Saturday's 102-96 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Williams got back on track, scoring 18 points on 6-for-11 shooting after going 1-for-12 in his previous appearance. Although his overall production has been somewhat inconsistent, as the starting point guard in Dallas, he should be rostered in most formats. Over his past eight games, Williams has averaged 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 27.5 minutes per contest.
Nov 18, 2025
Tallies 15 points
Williams produced 15 points (4-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 24 minutes during Monday's 120-96 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Williams wasn't great from the field Monday but made up for it at the free-throw line, converting all six of his attempts from the charity stripe. Since moving into the starting lineup Nov. 10, the 25-year-old has averaged 14.6 points, 5.0 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 27.8 minutes across five games. D'Angelo Russell continues to log significant backcourt minutes off the bench, but Williams has outperformed him recently.
Nov 13, 2025
Just misses double-double
Williams finished Wednesday's 123-114 loss to the Suns with 17 points (7-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, nine assists and three steals in 33 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Making his second straight start, Williams fell one dime shy of his first double-double of the season, and first since joining the Mavericks ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. The fourth-year guard continues to see his workload and usage rise for the injury-ravaged squad, and over the last five games he's averaging 14.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.0 boards and 2.4 steals in 26.6 minutes a contest.
Nov 11, 2025
Impresses in first start of season
Williams logged 19 points (4-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 10-11 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Monday's 116-114 loss to Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Williams moved to the starting lineup Monday while pushing D'Angelo Russell to a bench role, and it's safe to say the 25-year-old floor general left a good impression even if his shooting numbers weren't very efficient. Williams has scored in double digits in all but one of his last seven outings and should continue to have streaming-level upside -- in the worst-case scenario -- in most formats.
Nov 10, 2025
Starting Monday
Williams will start in Monday's game against the Bucks, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old point guard will get the starting nod for the first time this season, pushing D'Angelo Russell to the second unit. Over his last five appearances, Williams has averaged 9.8 points, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals in 18.4 minutes per contest.
Nov 8, 2025
Scores in double figures off bench
Williams registered 14 points (6-16 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, six assists and five steals in 26 minutes during Saturday's 111-105 victory over Washington.
ANALYSIS
Williams led the bench in shot attempts from the field, resulting in a third straight game scoring in double figures. The Arizona product did more than his part on the opposite end of the court, collecting a season high in steals. Williams has been strong off the bench after a slow start to the season, now averaging 11.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.2 steals in his last six matchups.
Nov 6, 2025
Drops 10 off bench
Williams amassed 10 points (4-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, three assists and two steals over 19 minutes during Wednesday's 101-99 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Williams' role as the backup point guard behind D'Angelo Russell is somewhat solidified, but the amount of minutes he sees the floor has been very inconsistent, partly because head coach Jason Kidd ran a brief experiment with rookie Cooper Flagg at point guard. Assuming Russell is the starting facilitator until Kyrie Irving (knee) or Dante Exum (knee) returns, Williams will continue to back him up.
Oct 29, 2025
Scores 20 points with seven boards
Williams put up 20 points (9-14 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and two turnovers in 22 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 107-105 win over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Over the final 15 games of the 2024-25 season, Williams compiled averages of 14.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.1 triples and 1.3 steals per contest, so he's shown he's capable of providing solid value when given the minutes. He may have Wally Pipped Jaden Hardy on the depth chart with his performance Wednesday night, as Hardy logged just eight minutes in the win. It'll be interesting to see what the minutes distribution between these two looks like Saturday in Detroit.
Oct 29, 2025
Available Wednesday
Williams (personal) is available for Wednesday's game against the Pacers, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams is back with the team and ready to suit up following a two-game absence for personal reasons. The guard will likely be battling with Jaden Hardy for reserve minutes behind Cooper Flagg, who's operating as Dallas' top floor general.
Oct 28, 2025
Questionable vs. Pacers
Williams (personal) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Williams is looking to rejoin the team following a two-game absence for personal reasons. If the guard is able to play, Williams would likely be competing with Jaden Hardy for bench minutes behind de facto point guard Cooper Flagg.
Oct 27, 2025
Ruled out Monday
Williams (personal) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Thunder, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss his second consecutive contest due to personal reasons, and his next opportunity to suit up will come Wednesday against the Pacers. With the 25-year-old guard on the shelf, D'Angelo Russell, Jaden Hardy and Ryan Nembhard are candidates for a bump in minutes.
Oct 27, 2025
Iffy for Monday
Williams (personal) is questionable for Monday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Williams missed Sunday's game against the Raptors for personal reasons and it remains in the air if he'll be available for the second leg of this back-to-back set. He's a long shot to see many minutes if he's cleared.
Oct 25, 2025
Ruled out for Sunday
Williams (personal) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss Sunday's contest due to personal reasons, and his next opportunity to suit up will come Monday against the Thunder. With the 25-year-old point guard sidelined, D'Angelo Russell and Ryan Nembhard are candidates for an uptick in playing time.
Oct 15, 2025
Cleared for Wednesday
Williams (hamstring) is available for Wednesday's preseason game against the Lakers, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams, who had been managing a strained hamstring, practiced Tuesday and is set to play in the Mavericks' preseason finale Wednesday. The guard appeared in 33 regular-season games for the team last season, averaging 8.3 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per contest.
Oct 14, 2025
Goes through practice
Williams (hamstring) went through practice Tuesday, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has been dealing with a hamstring issue, which has kept him sidelined for the preseason. With one preseason game remaining on the schedule for Dallas, Williams is trending in the right direction after participating in Tuesday's practice session. However, it remains uncertain whether he'll be available to play Wednesday's preseason finale against the Lakers.
Oct 13, 2025
Out Monday
Williams (hamstring) will not play in Monday's preseason game against the Jazz, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams is considered day-to-day with a strained hamstring, and the Mavericks will take a cautious approach by holding him out Monday. His last chance to see preseason action comes Wednesday against the Lakers.
Oct 11, 2025
Won't play Saturday
Williams (hamstring) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Hornets, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has been nursing a hamstring injury in recent days, but he's not ready to return to the court yet. His next chance to play before the start of the regular season will come Monday against the Jazz in another pre-season contest.
Oct 10, 2025
Considered day-to-day
Williams (hamstring) said Thursday that he's considered day-to-day, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Jason Kidd said Oct. 1 that Williams had sustained a hamstring strain and would be out for one week, but it sounds like he's progressing in the right direction. That being said, Williams wasn't sure if he would be ready to give it a go for Saturday's exhibition against the Hornets.
Oct 1, 2025
Out for week with hamstring strain
Head Coach Jason Kidd said Wednesday that Williams has sustained a hamstring strain and will be out for one week, Kevin Gray Jr. of AllDLLS.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss the Mavericks' preseason opener due to the injury, but he should be back in time for multiple tune-up contests. Williams appeared in 33 regular season games in 2024-25, averaging 8.3 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds across 14.8 minutes. He's slated for a reserve point guard role in 2025-26.
Apr 13, 2025
Won't return Sunday
Williams has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Grizzlies due to a left oblique strain.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered the injury in the first quarter, and after being evaluated by trainers it was determined that the issue was severe enough for him to not return for the second half. It's unclear whether his oblique strain will prevent him from being available in the Mavericks' Play-In Game against the Kings on Wednesday. Jaden Hardy and Spencer Dinwiddie will see increased minutes in the second half due to Williams' absence.
Apr 13, 2025
Exits Sunday's contest
Williams went to the locker room in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Grizzlies due to an abdominal injury, Kevin Gray Jr. of AllDLLS.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams was replaced by Kai Jones at the 5:00 mark of the first quarter, and the former went back to the locker room shortly after. Williams will be evaluated to determine the severity of the injury, but if he's unable to return, Jones and Dwight Powell would be candidates to see an increase in playing time.
Apr 13, 2025
Will start vs. Memphis
Williams will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Grizzlies, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams will make his third start of the season on Sunday. As a starter, the Arizona product has averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, shooting 44.4 percent from the field.
Apr 8, 2025
Set to sign two-year deal
The Mavericks plan to convert Williams to a standard two-year NBA contract later this week, Shams Charania of ESPNreports.
ANALYSIS
Dallas is gearing up for a potential spot in the Play-In Tournament and addressed their backcourt depth Tuesday, committing to Williams with a two-year deal. The 25-year-old guard has played in 32 games for the Mavericks this season, averaging 8.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, shooting 51.1 percent from the floor and 37.9 percent from deep.
Mar 30, 2025
Plays final game of two-way deal
Williams (back) tallied 12 points (3-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three assists, one rebound and one steal across 16 minutes in Saturday's 120-119 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Listed probable heading into the day due to lower back tightness, Williams proceeded to play through the injury and provided Dallas with some quality production off the bench while serving as point guard Spencer Dinwiddie's primary backup. One of Dallas' three two-way players, Williams has now reached his season-long limit of being active for 50 games at the NBA level, so he won't be eligible to play again for the Mavericks until at least April 10, when the team would be able to upgrade a two-way player to a standard contract. Dallas will have just two games left in the regular season after that date, but Williams could keep himself in playing shape until that time by seeing action in the G League with the Texas Legends. Williams has made 31 appearances for Dallas, averaging 8.3 points, 2.4 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per contest.
Mar 29, 2025
Suiting up vs. Chicago
Williams (back) is available for Saturday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Williams should handle a decent workload in this contest, as he's again been deemed available despite dealing with lower back tightness. Williams has averaged 17.1 points, 4.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals over 27.0 minutes since the beginning of March.
Mar 28, 2025
Probable to play Saturday
Williams (back) is listed as probable for Saturday's game against Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Williams continues to work through lower back tightness, but he doesn't appear to be in jeopardy of missing Saturday's game. He's seen his minutes and responsibilities increase due to injuries to Kyrie Irving (knee) and Dante Exum (hand), and since the beginning of March he has averaged 17.1 points, 4.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals over 27.0 minutes.
Mar 28, 2025
Solid stat line off bench Thursday
Williams notched 14 points (6-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six assists, three rebounds and two steals across 27 minutes during Thursday's 101-92 victory over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Williams posted his third consecutive game with double-digit points during an efficient outing Thursday. Additionally, the 25-year-old recorded team-high marks in assists and swipes. The two-way guard has received an increased role due to Kyrie Irving (knee) and Dante Exum (hand) being sidelined. Williams is averaging 17.1 points, 4.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals across 27.0 minutes per game over 10 outings (two starts) in March.
Mar 27, 2025
Available vs. Orlando
Williams (back) has been cleared to play in Thursday's game against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Williams has been dealing with a back issue, but that won't keep him off the floor Thursday in Orlando. The 25-year-old guard is averaging 8.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, shooting a career-high 51.3 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Mar 26, 2025
Iffy for Thursday
Williams is questionable for Thursday's game against the Magic due to low back tightness.
ANALYSIS
Williams finished with 22 points (7-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), three rebounds, two steals and one rebound across 28 minutes in Tuesday's 128-113 loss to the Knicks, but he continues to deal with a back injury, so his status for this matchup is uncertain. Williams has been playing well on an expanded role in recent weeks, however, averaging 17.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in nine outings since the beginning of March.
Mar 26, 2025
Produces well in expanded minutes
Williams (back) finished with 22 points (7-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), three rebounds, two steals and one rebound across 28 minutes in Tuesday's 128-113 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Listed as questionable heading into the day while he managed lower-back tightness, Williams was cleared shortly before tipoff and ended up taking on a heightened role on offense while Anthony Davis (adductor) and PJ Washington (ankle) sat out the second half of a back-to-back set. Both players could return to action Thursday in Orlando, so Williams will likely be headed for a downturn in playmaking opportunities after he ranked second on the Mavericks in usage (28.5 percent) on Tuesday. Dallas could even make Williams inactive Thursday, as he's able to suit up in just two more games for Dallas over the rest of the season while he remains signed to a two-way contract. As such, the Mavericks could be selective with when they choose to make Williams available over their final nine games.
Mar 25, 2025
Good to go Tuesday
Williams (back) is available for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Williams will suit up for a third consecutive contest after being listed on the injury report due to lower back tightness. The two-way guard has received increased playing time of late due to several injuries to key contributors, and over his last five outings (one start), he has averaged 15.4 points, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals across 24.6 minutes per contest.
Mar 25, 2025
Questionable Tuesday
Williams (back) has been listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
After a 15-point performance in Monday's win against the Nets, Williams could miss Tuesday's game in New York due to a back issue. If he gets ruled out for the matchup with the Knicks, the next opportunity for him to get back on the floor for the Mavericks will be Thursday against the Magic.
Mar 24, 2025
Good to go Monday
Williams (back) is available for Monday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Williams will play through back tightness Monday, although he's likely set for a downtick in usage in Anthony Davis' (adductor) return to the lineup. Over his last seven contests, Williams is averaging 17.1 points, 4.9 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 three-pointers in 28.1 minutes.
Mar 23, 2025
Probable for Monday
Williams (back) is probable for Monday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Williams will likely suit up for a second straight game after missing Wednesday's loss in Indiana. On Friday, Williams came off the bench and posted seven points, five assists, three rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes during a 123-117 win over the Pistons.
Mar 21, 2025
Good to go against Detroit
Williams (back) is available for Friday's game versus the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Williams has been upgraded from probable to available Friday after missing Dallas' previous contest due to left hamstring tightness. Williams has shown impressive efficiency across his last 10 appearances, posting 56.4/42.1/89.3 shooting splits.
Mar 20, 2025
Probable to face Detroit
Williams (back) is listed as probable for Friday's game against Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Williams missed Wednesday's loss to the Pacers due to left hamstring tightness, though he is expected to suit up Friday while he deals with lower back tightness. The two-way point guard has received an increased role of late due to injuries, and over his last five appearances (two starts), he has averaged 19.8 points, 4.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers and 1.6 steals across 28.8 minutes per game.
Mar 19, 2025
Won't play Wednesday
Williams (hamstring) is out for Wednesday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Williams has scored in double digits in each of his las six starts, so losing him represents a huge blow for a depleted Mavericks roster. This means Spencer Dinwiddie will be the only natural point guard available, and they won't have a lot of options available when it comes to backcourt depth.
Mar 18, 2025
Questionable for Wednesday
Williams is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pacers due to left hamstring tightness.
ANALYSIS
The depleted Mavericks backcourt could be even more shorthanded Wednesday. If Williams is unable to suit up, Dallas would likely be left with Spencer Dinwiddie as their lone traditional point guard against Indiana.
Mar 16, 2025
Reaches double figures in start
Williams ended with 11 points (3-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 32 minutes during Sunday's 130-125 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Williams got his second start of the season Sunday due to injuries throughout the Dallas roster, reaching the double-digit mark and finishing as one of six Mavericks in double figures. In both of his starts, Williams has reached double figures while averaging 12 points over those two contests.
Mar 16, 2025
Back in starting lineup
Williams will start Sunday's game against the 76ers, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Kyrie Irving (knee), Dante Exum (hand) and Jaden Hardy (ankle) all sidelined, Williams slides back into the starting lineup ahead of Spencer Dinwiddie. In his only start this season, Williams posted 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in 24 minutes during a 125-116 loss to Phoenix on March 5. Over his last five appearances, Williams has averaged 20.4 points, 5.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 29.2 minutes per game.
Mar 16, 2025
Available Sunday
Williams (hamstring) is available for Sunday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Williams has been upgraded from probable to available. With Kyrie Irving (knee), Dante Exum (hand) and Jaden Hardy (ankle) all sidelined, Williams should handle a major role in Dallas' backcourt. Over his last five appearances, Williams has averaged 20.4 points, 5.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 29.2 minutes per game.
Mar 15, 2025
Expected to play Sunday
Williams is listed as probable for Sunday's game versus Philadelphia due to left hamstring tightness.
ANALYSIS
Williams is expected to play Sunday despite dealing with left hamstring tightness. With Kyrie Irving (knee) and Dante Exum (hand) out for the remainder of the season, Williams will likely compete for starting point guard minutes if he's upgraded to available.
Mar 15, 2025
Team-high 25 points off bench
Williams (hamstring) supplied 25 points (11-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 26 minutes during Friday's 133-96 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Williams fought through a hamstring injury to lead the Mavericks in scoring off the bench Friday. Over his last five outings, Williams is averaging 20.4 points, 5.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.8 three-pointers in 29.2 minutes. With Dante Exum (hand) out indefinitely and Kyrie Irving (knee) already sidelined for the rest of the season, Williams is primed for additional playmaking duties going forward.
Mar 14, 2025
Cleared to play Friday
Williams (hamstring) is listed as available for Friday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Williams will suit up for his second consecutive contest after missing Monday's win over the Spurs due to left hamstring tightness. The two-way combo guard has carved out a significant role in the rotation of late due to a litany of injuries, averaging 19.3 points, 6.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals across 30.0 minutes per contest in his last four appearances.
Mar 13, 2025
Questionable for Friday
Williams (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Williams is in jeopardy of missing his second outing over the club's last three due to left hamstring tightness. The two-way combo guard has received an increased role due to a litany of injuries, and over his last five outings, he has averaged 16.4 points, 5.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals across 26.4 minutes per contest.
Mar 13, 2025
Score team-high 19 points
Williams notched 19 points (6-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, six assists and two steals across 28 minutes during Wednesday's 126-116 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Williams returned to the lineup after missing the previous game due to a minor hamstring concern. Despite moving back to the bench, Williams impressed yet again, scoring a team-high 19 points. Over his past four games, Williams has averaged 19.3 points to go with 4.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.8 three-pointers. Dallas clutching at straws when it comes to cobbling together a rotation, meaning Williams should continue to play a significant role, keeping in mind he can suit up only seven more times as a result of his contract.
Mar 12, 2025
Available vs. Spurs
Williams (hamstring) is available for Wednesday's game against the Spurs, Christian Clark of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams will return after a one-game absence due to left hamstring tightness. He's been handed a more prominent role on offense due to how depleted the Mavericks are of late due to injuries, and he's responded well. The two-way guard is averaging 19.3 points per game in three outings in March.
Mar 11, 2025
Questionable to face San Antonio
Williams (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Williams is in jeopardy of missing his second consecutive game due to left hamstring tightness. The two-way combo guard has received an elevated role of late due to a litany of Mavericks being sidelined, including Kyrie Irving (knee) and Jaden Hardy (ankle) in the backcourt. If Williams is unable to play Wednesday, Spencer Dinwiddie will likely receive a significant bump in minutes once again.
Mar 10, 2025
Out Monday
Williams (hamstring) is officially ruled out Monday against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Due to the slew of injuries that the Mavericks have experienced recently, Williams was elevated to an increased role, and even started Sunday against the Suns. However, he will miss Monday's game in San Antonio, meaning Spencer Dinwiddie will likely take his place in the starting lineup.
Mar 10, 2025
Iffy for Monday
Williams (hamstring) is questionable for Monday's game against San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Williams has some hamstring tightness that he picked up during Sunday's game against the Suns, but he's considered day-to-day. When healthy, Williams could see increased opportunity with Kyrie Irving (knee) done for the season.
Mar 9, 2025
Won't return Sunday
Williams has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Suns due to left hamstring tightness.
ANALYSIS
Williams was on the floor for the final seconds of the third quarter. He was subbed out for the start of the fourth frame and will not return to Sunday's contest, finishing with 13 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, five assists and three steals over 24 minutes. The short-handed Mavericks will turn to Caleb Martin and Spencer Dinwiddie off the bench for the fourth quarter due to Williams' injury.
Mar 9, 2025
Starting Sunday
Williams will start in Sunday's game against the Suns, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The two-way guard will supplant Dante Exum in the starting five. Williams is coming off a career-high 31-point performance during Friday's loss to the Grizzlies, and he has averaged 14.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 24.0 minutes per game in his last five NBA outings.
Mar 8, 2025
Scores career-high 31 points
Williams chipped in 31 points (10-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five rebounds, six assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Friday's 122-111 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Williams came out of nowhere to emerge as a reliable scoring weapon for the Mavericks, notching 14 points in the loss to the Bucks on Wednesday and pouring this career-high mark in the loss to Memphis. The third-year forward is stepping up and taking advantage of the opportunity, as injuries in recent weeks have decimated the Mavs roster. Williams could see a sizable uptick in his fantasy value if he continues to handle this role off the bench going forward.
Mar 6, 2025
Emerges from bench with 14 points
Williams had 14 points (7-15 FG, 0-4 3Pt), five rebounds, seven assists and three steals over 34 minutes during Wednesday's 137-107 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Williams stepped into the lineup and posted 34 minutes impressive showing, ultimately becoming the assist leader for the team during the loss. Kyrie Irving's (knee) production is up for grabs, and Wednesday's game indicated that Williams may be get a bigger piece of the action.
Dec 31, 2024
Puts up 10 points off bench
Williams tallied 10 points (4-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two assists, one rebound and one steal across 20 minutes in Monday's 110-100 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
One of Dallas' two-way players, Williams made his first appearance in either the G League or the NBA since Dec. 7, after he had recently missed time with a thumb injury. Williams suited up for both of the Mavericks' previous two contests without being called upon off the bench, but Dallas opened up a spot for him in the rotation Monday while the club was without Kyrie Irving (shoulder), Klay Thompson (illness), Dereck Lively (hip), Naji Marshall (suspension), Dante Exum (wrist) and Luka Doncic (calf). Any of the first three players could be back for Dallas' next game Wednesday in Houston, so Williams will likely be at risk of moving back outside of the rotation.
Dec 26, 2024
Good to go Friday
Williams (thumb) isn't on the injury report for Friday's game versus the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Williams will return to action Friday after missing Dallas' last six contests due to a thumb injury. However, Williams is averaging just 1.2 points in 4.2 minutes across his five appearances this season, so he is unlikely to significantly impact the Mavericks' rotation.
Dec 24, 2024
Out again Wednesday
Williams (thumb) will not play Wednesday against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss his sixth straight contest and remains without a timetable for a return.
Dec 22, 2024
Remains out for Monday
Williams (thumb) has been ruled out for Monday's game against Portland.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss his fifth consecutive outing due to a sprained right thumb, though he hasn't played at the NBA level since Nov. 19. The two-way guard's next chance to suit up for Dallas will come Wednesday against Minnesota.
Dec 20, 2024
Won't play Saturday against Clips
Williams (thumb) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Williams will be sidelined for a sixth straight game due to a sprained right thumb, and his next opportunity to play will be against the Trail Blazers on Monday. Williams' absence won't impact the Mavericks' rotation that much as he's only appeared in five regular-season games.
Dec 20, 2024
Still absent from practice
Williams (thumb) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has missed Dallas' last five contests due to a sprained right thumb. While the Mavericks have yet to release an injury report for Saturday's game versus the Clippers, Williams' absence from practice is a bad sign of his availability.
Dec 18, 2024
Won't play Thursday
Williams (thumb) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Clippers, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has been battling a sprained left thumb and won't be cleared in time to face the Clippers on Thursday. Williams has appeared in just five NBA games this season, so his absence shouldn't have much rotational impact.
Dec 14, 2024
Still out Sunday
Williams (thumb) won't play in Sunday's game versus the Warriors, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams hasn't logged any NBA minutes since Nov. 19, so his absence won't affect Dallas' rotation. Williams' next chance to suit up is Thursday's matchup with the Clippers.
Dec 13, 2024
Absent from Friday's practice
Coach Jason Kidd said that Williams (thumb) did not participate in Friday's practice, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams was held out of practice while he deals with a sprained right thumb. The two-way guard should be considered questionable at best for Sunday's game against the Warriors, though his absence shouldn't affect any fantasy decisions as he has averaged 4.2 minutes per game across only five regular-season appearances.
Dec 11, 2024
Misses Tuesday's loss with injury
Williams was ruled out ahead of Tuesday's 118-104 loss to the Thunder due to a right thumb sprain.
ANALYSIS
One of Dallas' three two-way players, Williams has seen the overwhelming majority of his playing time in the G League this season, so his absence Tuesday didn't have any impact on head coach Jason Kidd's rotation. Williams will likely head back to the Texas Legends once he's moved past the thumb injury.
Nov 6, 2024
Makes garbage-time cameo Wednesday
Williams recorded two points (1-1 FG), two rebounds and one assist across six minutes during Wednesday's 119-99 victory over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Williams made his third appearance of the season, with all having come during garbage time at the tail end of blowouts. Dallas took control early Wednesday and never let the Bulls keep the game competitive, allowing Williams to help close out the contest. The two-way player will likely head to the Texas Legends in the coming days once the G League season gets underway.
Oct 14, 2024
Not listed on injury report
Williams (calf) isn't listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's preseason game against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Williams appears set to make his preseason debut after he was left off the injury report. He's missed his team's first two exhibitions while dealing with a calf strain and will likely see action in the next two preseason games, though he doesn't appear to be in line to make the regular-season roster.
Oct 10, 2024
Sidelined once again
Williams (calf) will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Williams is on a two-way contract, so missing preseason action doesn't help his cause. Still, even if healthy, he shouldn't have a shot at making the regular-season rotation. He should be considered questionable to face the Clippers on Monday.
Oct 7, 2024
Out with calf strain
Williams (calf strain) will not play in Monday's preseason game against Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Williams is on a two-way contract with Dallas and isn't expected to crack the rotation to open the season. Consider him day-to-day.
Apr 15, 2024
Pours in 22 points in finale
Williams ended with 22 points (8-21 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes during Sunday's 135-86 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Williams ended up appearing in each of the Mavericks' final four games of the season, though his 30-minute workload in the finale was by far his largest of the season. He benefited from the increased playing time by virtue of Dallas holding out or limiting most of its key rotation players and ultimately finished the 2023-24 campaign with averages of 3.2 points, 1.0 assists and 0.8 rebounds in 6.6 minutes over 17 appearances. Since he's a two-way player, Williams won't be eligible to compete in the playoffs for Dallas.
Mar 16, 2024
Remains out Sunday
Wiliams (wrist) won't play in Sunday's game versus the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss his third straight contest Sunday due to a left wrist sprain. His next chance to suit up is Tuesday's matchup with the Spurs.
Mar 14, 2024
Out again Thursday
Williams (wrist) is inactive for Thursday's game against Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Williams will be sidelined by a sprained left wrist. His next opportunity to take the court comes Sunday versus Denver, although he has not logged NBA action since Feb. 14.
Mar 12, 2024
Won't play Wednesday
Williams is out for Wednesday's game versus the Warriors due to a left wrist sprain.
ANALYSIS
Williams's absence won't affect Dallas' rotation. The 24-year-old guard's next chance to suit up is Thursday's matchup with the Thunder.
Jan 4, 2024
Logs six minutes in blowout
Williams racked up zero points (0-1 FG, 0-2 FT), two rebounds and one steal across six minutes during Wednesday's 126-97 victory over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Williams failed to score in six minutes, cracking the rotation for the second straight game. After recently signing a two-way deal with the Mavericks, Williams has benefitted from injuries to other players. While it's great to see young players getting a taste for the NBA, it's hard to see him being anything more than a depth piece on most nights.
Dec 27, 2023
Inks two-way deal with Mavs
Williams signed a two-way contract with Dallas on Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams was previously with the Osceola Magic of the G League, where he was averaging 23.9 points and 5.6 rebounds. The 2021 UDFA appeared in 24 games with the Trail Blazers as a rookie but hasn't seen action in an NBA game since. He'll likely fill a depth role with Dallas when the team is at full strength.
Oct 21, 2023
Cut loose by Magic
Williams was waived by Orlando on Saturday, Philip Rossman-Reich of OrlandoMagicDaily.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams turned in a solid performance in his squad's latest preseason contest against Flamengo (13 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 22 minutes), but it wasn't enough to earn him a roster spot. Per Orlando Magic Daily, he's likely to return to Orlando's G League team, where he'll see plenty of opportunities to work on his game.
Jul 13, 2023
Picks up knee contusion
Williams suffered a right knee contusion and will not return to Thursday's Summer League game against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Williams picked up the injury after 10 minutes of action, finishing with five points and one three-pointer. He has made a strong case for Minnesota's regular season roster, averaging 21.3 points and 4.7 assists in three previous Summer League games.
Jul 12, 2023
Leads team in scoring
Williams tallied 23 points (8-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four assists, three rebounds and one steal in 29 minutes during Wednesday's 99-93 Summer League loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Williams has logged back-to-back impressive outings in the Summer League and will look to make Minnesota's regular-season roster. He has shown an ability to score with his efficiency, although his three assists to four turnovers leave some concerns about his playmaking.
Jul 7, 2023
Impresses against Pelicans
Williams recorded 24 points (8-14 FG, 1-3 3PT, 7-9 FT), three assists, two rebounds and three steals across 29 minutes of Friday's 102-88 Summer League victory over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Williams had a cup of coffee with the Blazers back in 2021-22, appearing in 24 games. Last season, he played for the Skyhawks in the G League and was one of their featured players. He looked outstanding running the point for Minnesota on Friday, so it will be interesting to see if his strong play will catch the eye of NBA teams looking to fill out their training camp rosters.
Oct 7, 2022
Waived by Trail Blazers
Williams was waived by the Trail Blazers on Friday, Sean Highkin of BleacherReport.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams served mainly as a starter for Portland over the final month of the regular season last year, and he averaged 13.4 points, 4.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 30.1 minutes per game over his final 18 appearances of the season. However, he'll need to seek out other opportunities ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Apr 9, 2022
Modest production in start
Williams chipped in nine points (4-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and five assists in 23 minutes during Friday's 128-78 loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Williams rejoined the starting lineup with Kris Dunn (ankle) unavailable, but the undrafted rookie out of Arizona wasn't able to make a lasting impression. Across 15 starts this season, the 6-foot-2 guard has averaged 14.6 points, 4.7 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 31.2 minutes per game.
Apr 8, 2022
Starting Friday
Williams is starting Friday's game against Dallas, Mavericks radio play-by-play broadcaster Chuck Cooperstein reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams came off the bench in his return to the court Thursday, and he logged five points, a rebound and four assists in 17 minutes. However, he'll rejoin the starting lineup Friday since Kris Dunn (ankle) is unavailable.
Apr 7, 2022
Will be limited off bench
Williams (quad) will see limited minutes off the bench during Thursday's game against the Pelicans, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Kris Dunn will remain with the starters while Williams takes it easy following an absence due to an injury. In his past five games as a reserve, he's averaged 13.2 points, 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 22.2 minutes.
Apr 7, 2022
Listed available Thursday
Williams (quad) will be available for Thursday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
After missing Tuesday's loss to the Thunder, Williams will be back in the mix and presumably slide back into the lineup at point guard. Prior to the injury, Williams averaged 14.5 points, 4.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.6 threes over his last 15 games (14 starts).
Apr 6, 2022
Questionable at New Orleans
Williams (quadriceps) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Pelicans, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams sat out Tuesday's game against the Thunder, which prompted Kris Dunn to start. The same would presumably occur if Williams sits out again.
Apr 5, 2022
Out Tuesday
Williams (quad) is out Tuesday against the Thunder, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
With Williams shelved, Kris Dunn is expected to start. Williams' next chance to play is Thursday against the Pelicans.
Apr 5, 2022
Dealing with a quadriceps injury
Williams is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Thunder due to a left quadriceps contusion, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has started 14 of the last 15 games and has averaged 14.5 points, 4.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 31.3 minutes during that stretch. If the undrafted rookie out of Arizona is sidelined, Kris Dunn would likely take over as Portland's primary point guard.
Mar 29, 2022
Posts big double-double in loss
Williams notched 25 points (8-20 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four rebounds, 12 assists and four steals over 41 minutes during Monday's 134-131 overtime loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Williams was one of three Portland players to register 20-plus points in the contest, and he was especially potent from deep with a 5-for-8 mark from beyond the arc. The rookie point guard rounded out a standout overall line with four steals and a career-best 12 dimes. With Damian Lillard (abdomen), Anfernee Simons (knee) and Eric Bledsoe (Achilles) all ruled out for the season, Williams should be the starting point guard by default for the Blazers the rest of the way. He's done well in the role, averaging 16.3 points, 4.3 assists, 4.2 boards, 1.6 three-pointers and 1.5 steals across 11 games.
Mar 27, 2022
Finishes with 15/8/4 line
Williams finished Saturday's 115-98 loss to Houston with 15 points (6-15 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, eight assists, one block and one steal over 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Williams paced the Blazers with eight dimes in the loss and tied for the team lead with 15 points. He didn't shoot particularly well from the field, but this was still a better result than the combined 4-for-23 mark he posted over his previous two games. Williams could hold onto the starting point guard role for the remainder of the campaign if Anfernee Simons (quadriceps) doesn't return to action.
Mar 25, 2022
Starting Friday
Williams will start at point guard in Friday's matchup with the Rockets, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620
ANALYSIS
Williams will return to the starting lineup, which means Khris Dunn will head back to the bench. He has averaged 17.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists across 32.5 minutes in eight starts this season.
Mar 23, 2022
Coming off bench Wednesday
Williams isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Spurs, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Willians had started each of the last eight games, and he averaged 17.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 32.5 minutes per game during that time. Kris Dunn will draw the start against San Antonio.
Mar 22, 2022
Bounces back in win
Williams registered 23 points (6-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 11-11 FT), six rebounds, three assists and three steals across 33 minutes during Monday's 119-115 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Williams continues to struggle with his efficiency at times, but he counteracted such woes on Monday by assertively knocking down 11 free throws. The rookie out of Arizona has a subpar 41.2/30.0/67.6 percent shooting slash across 14 appearances, but he's nonetheless supplying a healthy 14.6 points per game.
Mar 21, 2022
Struggles inside
Williams provided 10 points (2-10 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-7 FT) and two assists over 25 minutes during Sunday's 129-98 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Williams collected all his points from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line, missing multiple looks around the basket. He also finished with a team-worst minus-31 in the box score. Williams currently holds the starter title, but he is quietly morphing into a time share with Kris Dunn.
Mar 17, 2022
Scores 14 with two blocks in loss
Williams amassed 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 0-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 29 minutes during Wednesday's 128-98 loss to New York.
ANALYSIS
After a pair of competitive games against Washington and Atlanta, Portland was back to being blown off the floor Wednesday night in a game that got out of hand in the second half. Williams has now started five straight games with Anfernee Simons (quad) out, and it remains very much unclear when Simons will be back. With the Blazers squarely focused on losing as many games as they can between now and April 10, it wouldn't be a surprise if Simons is brought along slowly.
Mar 8, 2022
Thrives in first career start
Williams notched 27 points (7-18 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 11-16 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and four steals in 34 minutes during Monday's 124-81 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Williams was coming off the best performance of his young NBA career when he scored 21 points against the Timberwolves on Sunday, but he topped that effort in this one. He got the starting nod due to a rash of injuries on the Blazers roster, and while there's a chance he could stay in the lineup for Wednesday's game at Utah, chances are he'll move back to a bench role as soon as the team starts to get healthier. For now, though, he's embracing the uptick in playing time and making the most of the opportunity.
Mar 7, 2022
Making first start of season
Williams is starting Monday's game against Minnesota, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams earns his first chance to start this year due to a slew of injuries. He's coming off his best performance of his brief NBA career, finishing with 21 points, two boards, one assist and one steal Saturday, also against the Timberwolves.
Mar 5, 2022
Lands career-high 21 points
Williams recorded 21 points (9-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 27 minutes during Saturday's 135-121 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Williams went off for a career-high 21 points Saturday, his third straight game scoring in double-digits. The Trail Blazers are obviously keyed in on getting a look at some of their young pieces, of which Williams is one. Before managers go running to grab him off waivers, keep in mind the team was without a host of regular players. While it does appear Williams has carved out a role, we would need to see a bit more of this before recommending him as a pickup.
Mar 5, 2022
Good to go Saturday
Williams (hip) is available for Saturday's game against the Timberwolves, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has averaged 12.7 points, 2.7 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 19.7 minutes across the past four games. He's one of eight Trail Blazers available for Saturday's game.
Mar 4, 2022
Probable Saturday
Williams (hip) is probable for Saturday's game against Minnesota, Mike Richman of The Oregonian reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams exited Wednesday's game against the Suns due to a left hip pointer, but it appears likely that he'll be able to play through the issue Saturday. He's averaged 12.7 points and 2.7 assists in 19.7 minutes per game across his last three appearances.
Mar 3, 2022
Dealing with hip pointer
Williams left Wednesday's game against the Suns with a left hip pointer, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams played 15 minutes in the blowout before exiting with the injury, and he finished with 14 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and one assist. The 22-year-old will have a couple days to rest up ahead of Saturday's game at Minnesota.
Feb 28, 2022
Settles in as backup point guard
Williams tallied 12 points (2-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-9 FT) and seven assists in 24 minutes Sunday in the Trail Blazers' 124-92 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
After agreeing to a two-year, two-way contract with Portland coming out of the All-Star break, Williams has stepped in as the new top backup to starting point guard Anfernee Simons after the injured Dennis Smith (elbow) was waived. Williams has scored 12 points in both of the Trail Blazers' two games since the break, but he's shot just 37.5 percent from the field. Efficiency is likely to remain an issue for the undrafted rookie, but he should have a fairly clear path to a rotation role moving forward. Eric Bledsoe (Achilles) is being evaluated on a game-by-game basis but is without a clear timeline to return, while Damian Lillard (abdomen) is scheduled to be re-evaluated in the next 2-to-3 weeks and could end up being shut down for the season.
Feb 21, 2022
Agrees to two-way deal
Williams (knee) signed a two-year, two-way contract with Portland on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has spent his 2021-2022 campaign in the G League with Westchester, averaging 22.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists through 13 games (33.1 minutes). He has most recently been tending to a knee injury suffered while with Westchester but is being considered day-to-day.
Jan 5, 2022
10-day contract expires
Williams (COVID-19 protocols) will become a free agent after his 10-day contract expired Wednesday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams signed a 10-day hardship contract with the Trail Blazers on Dec. 27 and appeared in two games with the squad before landing in COVID-19 protocols. The 22-year-old will have to clear COVID-19 protocols before he is eligible to sign with a new team.
Dec 30, 2021
Lands in protocols
Williams joined health and safety protocols Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams was brought in on a hardship deal and now himself has landed in protocols. The Blazers may have to turn to Jarron Cumberland for backup guard minutes.
Dec 27, 2021
Gets look in Portland
Williams signed a 10-day contract with the Trail Blazers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The 6-foot-2 point guard out of Arizona was one of three players that joined Portland on 10-day deals Sunday while the Trail Blazers are set to play without at least eight members of the roster Monday against the Mavericks. For the time being, Williams looks like he'll tentatively slot in as the third-string point guard for Portland behind Damian Lillard (personal) and Anfernee Simons while Dennis Smith is in the NBA's health and safety protocols and while CJ McCollum is recovering from a collapsed lung. Lillard is listed as questionable for Monday's contest, so Williams could get the opportunity to serve as Simons' primary backup if Lillard is ultimately forced to sit out. Over 10 appearances in the G League this season with the Westchester Knicks, Williams averaged 17.7 points, 4.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 31.1 minutes.
