Returns to parent club
The Nets recalled Powell from the G League's Long Island Nets on Thursday, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Following this past Saturday's win over the Pelicans, the Nets had a six-day break in their schedule, so the rookie first-round pick was sent to the G League so that he could continue to see meaningful reps. Powell played in both ends of Long Island's Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back set versus the College Park Skyhawks and Westchester Knicks, respectively, averaging 7.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in 28.7 minutes between those contests. Now that he's back with the parent club, Powell should settle back into the Brooklyn rotation during Friday's game at Dallas.

Off injury report
Powell (knee) isn't part of the Nets' injury report for Saturday's game against the Pelicans, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Powell sat out the Nets' most recent game -- the tail end of a back-to-back -- but he'll be a full go for Saturday's contest. In his last 13 games, Powell is averaging 7.2 points, 2.2 assists and 1.9 rebounds across 21.2 minutes.
Dec 4, 2025
Sitting out vs. Jazz
Powell (knee) is out for Thursday's game against the Jazz, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Thursday night is the second day of back-to-back games for the Nets, who've chosen to give Powell a chance to rest for knee injury management. The rookie should return Saturday against the Pelicans. His absence on top of Michael Porter (back) sitting out should allow Danny Wolf and Ziaire Williams to play more minutes in the frontcourt.

Puts up 10 off bench
Powell chipped in 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt), one rebound, four assists and three steals over 24 minutes during Monday's 116-103 win over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
With the absence of Terance Mann (ribs), Powell was able to take advantage of the opportunity, outpacing Tyrese Martin (who started in place of Mann over Powell) in points and minutes. While Mann is slated to return relatively soon, Powell should continue to enjoy an increased role within Brooklyn's rotation in the meantime.
Nov 24, 2025
Ties career-high with 15 points
Powell accumulated 15 points (5-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal across 24 minutes during Monday's 113-100 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Powell had the second 15-point performance of his young career as he continues to try to carve out a consistent role for himself. Brooklyn is loaded when it comes to youth, all of them basically interchangeable at this point. There is no reason to run out and add Powell, although the situation in Brooklyn is worth monitoring as the season progresses, just in case Powell can establish himself ahead of his direct competition for minutes.
Nov 17, 2025
Drops six in win
Powell registered six points (3-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 19 minutes during Sunday's 129-106 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Powell has now logged exactly six points in four of his last five contests, also averaging 2.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.2 blocks and 1.0 threes made in that span. Powell will continue to backup Terance Mann until Cam Thomas (hamstring) returns later in the season.
Nov 9, 2025
Leads bench in scoring
Powell produced 15 points (5-8 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Sunday's 134-98 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Powell took full advantage of his opportunities off the bench, drilling all three of his attempts from beyond the arc. He's seen a sizable uptick in playing time in his last two appearances, logging 27 minutes Friday against Detroit and now 23 minutes Sunday after totaling 11 minutes in his first two games of the new campaign.
Nov 8, 2025
Big minutes off bench Friday
Powell tallied six points (3-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt), four rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes off the bench in Friday's 125-107 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Powell sprained his right ankle in a loss to the 76ers last Sunday and was unavailable for the Nets' ensuing two games before returning to action Friday. Though he had been limited to just 11 total minutes in his prior two appearances for Brooklyn, Powell benefited from extended playing time Friday due to the blowout nature of the contest as well as the absences of Cam Thomas (hamstring) and fellow rookie first-round picks Ben Saraf and Nolan Traore, the latter two of whom were assigned to the G League's Long Island Nets. Thomas is considered weeks away from returning, but Powell could lose out on some minutes once Brooklyn decides to recall Saraf and/or Traore.
Nov 7, 2025
Available to play
Powell (ankle) is available for Friday's game against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Powell was upgraded twice during the same morning after previously being ruled out. He's been unable to crack Brooklyn's rotation outside of garbage time thus far, so he's not a lock to see minutes.
Nov 7, 2025
Now expected to play
Powell (ankle) has been upgraded to probable for Friday's game against Detroit, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Powell was initially ruled out for this contest, but the forward is now looking to give it a go Friday. He's not guaranteed any rotation minutes, however, and he's likely to see a G League assignment in his future.
Nov 6, 2025
Another absence coming

Nov 4, 2025

Nov 3, 2025
Ruled out Monday
Powell (ankle) is out for Monday's game against Minnesota, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After spraining his right ankle in Sunday's game against Philadelphia, Powell will need to miss at least one game because of the injury. His next chance to play comes Wednesday in Indiana. Powell's absence may not clear up a noticeable amount of playing time in the Brooklyn rotation.

Oct 28, 2025

Oct 25, 2025

Oct 22, 2025
Turns ankle, doesn't return
Powell exited Wednesday's 136-117 loss to Charlotte with 4:38 left in the fourth quarter due to an apparent ankle injury and did not return.
ANALYSIS
Per Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com, Powell rolled his ankle after stepping on another player's foot. The rookie guard limped to the bench and did not return, and there wasn't an injury update postgame. Powell logged two points (1-1 FG) and two rebounds in seven minutes. Powell didn't enter the game until late in the third quarter when Brooklyn trailed by 15. Keep an eye out for a status update ahead of Friday's game against Cleveland.
Oct 9, 2025
Ready to return for Friday
Powell (knee) will be available to play in Friday's preseason game against the Suns, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing the entire Las Vegas Summer League and parts of training camp, Powell is ready to return from left knee tendinopathy and get his first taste of NBA game action. It's possible the Nets will have restrictions in place for the rookie first-rounder Friday, and Powell has several players to overcome on the depth chart if he wants to make his way into Brooklyn's Opening Night rotation.
Oct 3, 2025
Won't play Saturday
Powell (knee) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against Hapoel Jerusalem, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Powell was able to do some contact drills at the end of September, but he's not quite ready to return yet. According to Slater, Powell will likely make his preseason debut next weekend against the Suns on Oct. 10 or Oct. 12.
Sep 30, 2025
Participating in contact drills
Powell (knee) is taking part in contact portions of practice, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Powell has been limited by left knee tendinopathy since the Las Vegas Summer League, and his status remains uncertain for the start of the preseason. He still has plenty of time if he wants to be ready for Opening Night, though the Nets are likely to exercise caution with the 2025 first-rounder. Until Powell is cleared to take the floor, the likes of Terance Mann, Ziaire Williams and Jalen Wilson should see more playing time.
Sep 23, 2025
Dealing with knee issue
Nets general manager Sean Marks said Tuesday that Powell has been limited by left knee tendinopathy since the Summer League, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Powell was selected by the Nets with the No. 22 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, but he missed the entire Summer League with this issue. Marks said the hope is that Powell will return at some point during the preseason, but it's clear the team will take a cautious approach early on.
Jun 25, 2025
Selected by Nets
Powell was selected by the Nets with the No. 22 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
The pick was technically made by the Hawks, but a trade that will be finalized later sends the UNC product to Brooklyn. Powell is an elite athlete and high-motor player who averaged just 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 25.6 minutes per game as a true freshman at North Carolina. He primarily played off the ball with UNC and shot 37.9 percent from three-point range. Powell's athleticism helps him get downhill, where he showed an ability to finish through contact. He'll need plenty of refinement, but his athleticism should immediately translate to the NBA game. What Brooklyn does with restricted free agents Cam Thomas (hamstring) and Ziaire Williams (knee) will make Powell's role as a rookie clearer.
