Hanging around Minnesota
Jackson was signed to the Vikings' practice squad Wednesday, Craig Peters of the team's official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson went unclaimed on waivers after Minnesota cut him loose Tuesday, and he will now open the year as a member of the team's practice squad. The wide receiver spent the entirety of the 2024 campaign with the Vikings' practice squad, and he'll look to earn an elevation to the active roster at some point this season, something he didn't accomplish last year.

Sent to waivers
The Vikings waived Jackson on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Jackson was targeted 11 times through three preseason games but turned in just five receptions for 49 yards. Despite dealing with multiple injuries at wide receiver, the Vikings cut Jackson loose in favor of Tim Jones and undrafted rookie Myles Price. Jackson is a candidate for the practice squad where he spent the 2024 season.

Tough day against Pats
Jackson caught one of five targets for nine yards in Saturday's 20-12 preseason loss to New England.
ANALYSIS
With Justin Jefferson (hamstring), Jordan Addison (suspension) and Jalen Nailor (hand) all held out of the contest, Jackson got the start but did very little with the opportunity. The second-year wideout out of Western Kentucky is battling with 2025 third-round pick Tai Felton for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart -- a role that could end up being significant early in the season with Addison set to miss the first three games -- but Saturday's performance likely caused Jackson to lose ground in the battle.

Making case for significant role
Jackson caught three of four targets for 30 yards in Saturday's 20-10 preseason win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
With Jordan Addison (suspension) set to miss the first three games of the regular season, Jalen Nailor will line up as the Vikings' No. 2 receiver opposite Justin Jefferson (hamstring), creating a camp competition for the No. 3 job between Jackson and 2025 third-round pick Tai Felton. Felton has the draft pedigree in his favor, but Jackson may be emerging as the frontrunner nonetheless, and his performance Saturday was a notch better than Felton's 2-14-0 line on two targets. Jackson's only NFL experience to date consists of three games for Minnesota in 2023, when he mainly played special teams.

Could begin season as No. 3 WR
Jackson and Tai Felton are the leading candidates to work as the No. 3 receiver to begin the season with Jordan Addison suspended the first three games for violating the league's Substances of Abuse Policy, the The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson has been getting work with the first-team offense in camp with Justin Jefferson sidelined with a hamstring injury. Jalen Nailor will move up to the No. 2 receiver role while Addison is out, but the No. 3 spot is still unsettled. It's surprising that Jackson looks like the early leader for the role since he played in just one game last year and spent most of the season on the practice squad.

Will remain in Minnesota
The Vikings signed Jackson to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson spent the entire 2024 campaign on the Vikings' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He wasn't elevated to the active roster, but he will stay in Minnesota and be on the 90-man roster March 12 when the new league year starts. Jackson will participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp with the Vikings in the hopes of making the 53-man roster for the 2025 season.

Brought back by Minnesota
The Vikings signed Jackson to the practice squad Wednesday, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson spent most of 2023 on the Vikings' practice squad, though he did appear in three regular-season games and played 35 snaps (three on offense, 32 on special teams). He had a solid finish to the preseason with four catches (on six targets) for 53 yards against the Eagles on Saturday, but it wasn't enough for him to make the Vikings' 53-man roster. Jackson will look to impress on the taxi squad and stay ready for a promotion to the active roster.

Getting waved by Vikes
Minnesota waived Jackson on Tuesday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson signed with Minnesota at the end of the 2023 season, but on the day of the roster cut deadline for 2024, he found himself back on the outside looking in. He's slated to become a free agent unless he's claimed by another team during the current waiver period.
Jan 6, 2024
Joins active roster
The Vikings signed Jackson to 53-man roster Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old's signing will ensure some extra depth at wide receiver for the remainder of the season, as Jalen Nailor (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. Jackson has already appeared in two games for Minnesota this year, failing to record a stat and playing 22 total snaps (two offensive and 20 on special teams).

Back to practice squad
The Vikings reverted Jackson to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Although Jackson was active for Sunday's 33-10 loss to the Packers, he didn't end up playing a single snap. He's been called up twice this season and is eligible to be elevated for a third time for the Vikings' regular-season finale against the Lions on Jan. 7.
Dec 30, 2023
Elevated for second straight week
The Vikings elevated Jackson to their active roster from their practice squad Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Jackson's elevation is a consequence of Jordan Addison (ankle) being listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against Green Bay and Jalen Nailor (concussion) being ruled out. Jackson saw his first regular-season action as a pro last week versus Detroit, logging one offensive snap and 12 special-teams snaps in the loss. He figures to have a minimal role again Sunday if he suits up.
Dec 26, 2023
Reverts to practice squad
Jackson reverted to the Vikings' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Jackson played one offensive snap and 12 snaps on special teams Week 16, in what was his NFL debut. The former XFL player will now await another chances to be elevated from the practice squad while continuing his development in Minnesota.
Dec 23, 2023
Joins active roster
The Vikings elevated Jackson to their active roster Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie wide receiver out of Western Kentucky is joining an active roster for the first time in his young career, and he'll give the Vikings' some extra depth at WR with Jalen Nailor (concussion) missing Week 16's affair. Jackson likely won't see many snaps on offense, but he could very well add value to Minnesota's special teams unit Sunday.
Sep 12, 2023
Back with Vikings' practice squad
Minnesota signed Jackson to its practice squad Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Just a few days after being cut from the Vikings' practice squad, Jackson has found his way back into the fold. With only five receivers currently available to suit up for Thursday's game at Philadelphia, it wouldn't be surprising to see Minnesota elevate a wideout in the near future.
Sep 10, 2023
Cut by practice squad
Jackson was let go from the Vikings' practice squad Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Jackson initially signed with Minnesota's practice unit after failing to make the team's final 53-man roster. The CFL and XFL alum will now on the lookout for a new opportunity. He most recently had a stint with the D.C. Defenders in the XFL.

Aug 29, 2023
Waived by Minnesota
The Vikings waived Jackson on Tuesday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson spent time in developmental leagues over the past few seasons following a collegiate career at Western Kentucky. He was unable to land a spot on the Vikings' 53-man roster after signing with the team in late May, and it's unclear whether he'll find a role with another NFL club in 2023.
