Mason Taylor Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Dolphins vs Jets game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 30, 2025
Two catches in win
Taylor caught two of four targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Taylor finished second on the team in receiving yards, though he was nowhere close to leading receiver Adonai Mitchell, who caught eight of 12 targets for 102 yards and a touchdown. The Jets don't generate much offense through the air, but Taylor reliably gets a few opportunities per game, as this was only the second time in the last six outings that the rookie second-round pick has been held short of three receptions. Up next for Taylor and the Jets is a Week 14 home game against the Dolphins.

Three catches with Tyrod at QB
Taylor caught three of five targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Taylor didn't see a significant change in production as the Jets benched Justin Fields in favor of Tyrod Taylor (no relation to Mason) at quarterback. Tyrod will likely remain the starter against the Falcons in Week 13. The Jets' rookie tight end has recorded at least three catches in four of the past five games, and that stretch includes Taylor's lone touchdown catch.
Nov 14, 2025
Four-catch night in loss
Taylor brought in all four targets for 30 yards in the Jets' 27-14 loss to the Patriots on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Taylor put a one-reception effort against the Browns on Sunday behind him with Thursday's performance, his third mult-catch tally in the last four games. The rookie's talent is unquestioned, but his game-to-game production is still subject to the whims of Justin Fields' passing performances. As such, Taylor will remain an unpredictable fantasy option in a tough Week 12 road matchup against the Ravens.
Nov 10, 2025
Two targets in run-heavy win
Taylor caught one of two targets for four yards in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
The only other Jets player with multiple targets in the game was Garrett Wilson (knee), who had three targets prior to exiting Sunday's win. Taylor has had an inconsistent rookie season, seeing two or fewer targets on four occasions and five or more targets five times. Given the Jets' lack of talent at wide receiver, Taylor could see a bump in volume if the Jets fall behind and pass more against the Patriots in Week 11.

Catches game-winning TD in Week 8
Taylor (quadriceps) caught five of eight targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 39-38 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Taylor played through a quadriceps injury and led the Jets in targets. The first touchdown catch of his NFL career was a dramatic one, as running back Breece Hall found Taylor in the back of the end zone on a trick play for the game-winning score from four yards out just after the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter. The Jets could get some reinforcements at wide receiver if Garrett Wilson (knee) or Josh Reynolds (hip) can return after the team's Week 9 bye, but Taylor should remain involved as a pass catcher in the second half of his rookie campaign.

Receives green light for Week 8
Taylor (quadriceps) is active for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Taylor wasn't included on the Jets' initial Week 8 injury report released Wednesday, but he then sat out Thursday's practice due to the quad issue before returning to the field Friday as a limited participant. The rookie appears to have made enough progress since Friday's session to give it a go Sunday, though it's possible that the Jets monitor his snaps closely if he's operating at less than 100 percent. Whenever he's on the field for passing downs, Taylor will likely rank as one of the top targets for quarterback Justin Fields, especially with No. 1 receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) slated to miss a second straight game.
Oct 25, 2025
Likely to play Sunday
Taylor, who has been deemed questionable for Sunday's battle against the Bengals due to a quad injury, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor popped up on Thursday's injury report after missing practice due to a quad injury. He was able to participate in a limited fashion Friday and now appears likely to give it a go Sunday, barring a setback. Taylor will again be trying to catch passes from Justin Fields, who will remain the team's starting QB for at least another week, perhaps partly as a result of backup Tyrod Taylor being ruled out due to a knee injury.
Oct 24, 2025
Questionable to face Bengals
Taylor (quadriceps) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor is one of eight Jets listed as questionable, about whom head coach Aaron Glenn made the blanket statement "I like the way those guys are trending." If Taylor's able to suit up Sunday after seemingly suffering a quadriceps injury in practice Wednesday, he would draw a favorable matchup against a Bengals defense that has been the most generous in the league to tight ends. It remains to be seen if Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor (knee) will get the nod under center for the Jets.
Oct 23, 2025
DNP due to quad Thursday
Taylor (quadriceps) didn't practice Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cimini speculates that Taylor was presumably injured in Wednesday's practice, as Taylor didn't appear on Wednesday's injury report. Taylor's injury adds further uncertainty to a Jets offense that could be without top wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) and hasn't declared a starting quarterback between Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor (knee) for Sunday's game against the Bengals. If the rookie tight end is unable to play Sunday, Jeremy Ruckert could see additional involvement against a Bengals defense that has allowed the most yards (536) and touchdowns (nine) in the league to tight ends.
Oct 20, 2025
Involved with Wilson absent
Taylor recorded three receptions on five targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Taylor stepped up as expected in the absence of Garrett Wilson (knee), though the quarterback play held back his stat line. He finished second on the team in targets behind Josh Reynolds, despite not getting any opportunity until midway through the third quarter with Tyrod Taylor undeer center. Taylor has shown some promise in his rookie season, but it's difficult to trust any Jets pass catcher while Wilson is sidelined and the signal caller remains in flux.
Oct 12, 2025
Major downturn in loss
Taylor secured his only target for two yards in the Jets' 13-11 loss to the Broncos in London on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Just one week after posting a career-best 9-67-0 line on 12 targets, Taylor nearly pulled a complete disappearing act in Sunday's low-scoring loss. However, the rookie tight end was hardly the only Jets pass catcher to experience a forgettable afternoon, considering Justin Fields threw for just 45 yards and was sacked nine times. The Week 7 outlook for the entire offense is much brighter, however, as New York welcomes in the Panthers to MetLife Stadium for a Week 7 matchup next Sunday.
Oct 5, 2025
Role continues to grow
Taylor caught nine of 12 targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 37-22 loss to the Cowboys. He also caught a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
The rookie tight end led the Jets in catches and targets, and was only four yards back of Garrett Wilson for the team lead in that category as well. Taylor is blossoming now that he's put an early-season ankle issue behind him, and over the last three games he's delivered an 18-150-0 line on 25 targets as he begins to establish himself as the team's No. 2 pass-catching option behind Wilson. Taylor will look for his first career touchdown in Week 6 against the Broncos.
Oct 3, 2025
Ready to play Sunday
Taylor (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor's availability heading into Week 5 had been a bit of a question mark after he was a limited participant in practices Wednesday and Thursday, but he took every rep at Friday's session to erase any doubt about his ability to play through the ankle issue. The rookie second-round pick drew just three looks in the passing game through the first two weeks of the season, but he's seen his role increase over the past two contests, putting together a 9-83-0 receiving line on 13 targets.
Oct 2, 2025
Another limited listing
Taylor (ankle) was limited at practice Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor was also listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate, so the tight end will likely need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Following a slow start to his rookie season, Taylor has combined to catch nine of his 13 targets (for 83 yards) over the Jets' last two contests.
Oct 1, 2025
Limited at practice Wednesday
Taylor (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor now has two more chances to practice fully ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys. The 2025 second-rounder is coming off his best game of the season, a 5/65/0 effort on seven targets (while logging an 81 percent snap share) in the Jets' Week 4 loss to the Dolphins.
Sep 29, 2025
Post season highs on MNF
Taylor had five receptions on seven targets for 65 yards in Monday's 27-21 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
This was Taylor's finest game through four stars this season after he finished as the Jets' second-leading receiver behind Garrett Wilson. The 21-year-old Taylor has seen his target share increase on a weekly basis, finally culminating in a stat line that fantasy managers can get excited about. Perhaps Taylor can maintain this level of involvement against the Cowboys on Sunday as the Jets desperately search for a reliable No. 2 receiving option behind Wilson.
Sep 21, 2025
Four catches in Week 3 loss
Taylor caught four of six targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
With Tyrod Taylor under center in place of Justin Fields (concussion), Taylor the tight end set new career highs in catches and targets in his third career NFL game, The rookie's longest gain went for only 10 yards, but it was still an encouraging increase in usage for the 2025 second-round pick. Fields could return in Week 4, but Taylor will look to build on the this performance regardless of who he's catching passes from in an AFC East battle against the Dolphins.
Sep 14, 2025
Another one-catch effort Week 2
Taylor (ankle) caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Taylor suited up after being listed as questionable due to an ankle injury and was one of six Jets to record at least one catch, as Justin Fields (concussion) and Tyrod Taylor combined for only 10 completions. One of Tyrod's seven was a five-yard touchdown pass to fellow tight end Jeremy Ruckert. Taylor has made just one catch in each of his first two games, but the Jets could lean on him and other pass catchers more if the run-reliant Fields misses time due to his concussion.
Sep 14, 2025
Active for Week 2
Taylor (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing Wednesday, Taylor was limited Thursday and then worked fully Friday before heading into the weekend listed as questionable. With his Week 2 availability confirmed, the rookie second-rounder -- who recorded an 88 percent snap share in his regular season debut versus Pittsburgh last Sunday - profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option for now after recording just one catch (on his only target) for 20 yards against the Steelers while working in tandem with Jeremy Ruckert (45 percent snap share, two targets).
Sep 14, 2025
On track to play Sunday
Taylor (ankle) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills but is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After opening Week 2 prep as a non-participant Wednesday, Taylor practiced in a limited fashion Thursday and then took every rep at Friday's session, clearing up most of the lingering concern about his health heading into the weekend. Assuming the rookie tight end is formally cleared ahead of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, he should continue to play heavy snaps Week 2. Despite garnering an 88 percent snap share in the Jets' 34-32 loss to the Steelers in the season opener, Taylor didn't make much of an imprint in the box score, finishing with one catch for 20 yards on one target.
Sep 12, 2025
Questionable after full practice
Taylor (ankle) logged a full practice Friday but is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor seems more likely to play than not based on his positive trend in practice participation, as he didn't practice Wednesday before being limited Thursday and upgrading to full participation Friday. The rookie second-round pick already sits atop the depth chart at tight end, but if Taylor's limited or unavailable Sunday, the Jets would lean more heavily on some combination of Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt and Jelani Woods.
Sep 11, 2025
Limited in practice Thursday
Taylor (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor sprained his ankle in training camp and is dealing with an injury to the same ankle in the aftermath of a loss to the Steelers in his regular-season NFL debut. The rookie second-round pick was unable to practice Wednesday, so Thursday's limited showing is a step in the right direction. If Taylor sees a reduced workload after playing on 87 percent of offensive snaps Week 1, or sits out entirely, Sunday against the Bills, more opportunities could be available for Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt or Jelani Woods.
Sep 11, 2025
Spotted at practice Thursday
Taylor (ankle) was present for Thursday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After being deemed a non-participant Wednesday, Taylor's presence at the start of Thursday's session bodes well for the rookie tight end's chances of being available Sunday against the Bills. The Jets' upcoming injury report will reveal Taylor's participation level Thursday.
Sep 10, 2025
Sits out practice Wednesday
Taylor (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor secured his only pass for 20 yards during the Jets' 34-32 loss to the Steelers in Week 1, but he sustained an ankle injury during the contest. While Cimini reports that Taylor moved well while working in the rehab area Wednesday, the rookie second-round pick will almost certainly need to return to practice as at least a limited participant Thursday and/or Friday in order to have a shot at suiting up for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Sep 7, 2025
One catch in debut
Taylor caught his only target for 20 yards in Sunday's 34-32 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Taylor wasn't significantly involved as a pass catcher in his NFL debut, as Garrett Wilson was the only player to exceed 38 receiving yards for the Jets. Among the team's tight ends, Jeremy Ruckert had two catches for 16 yards. Taylor has substantial long-term upside, but the rookie second-round pick could face a learning curve out of the gate.
Aug 17, 2025
First connection with Fields
Taylor caught his only target for four yards in Saturday's 31-12 preseason loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Taylor saw his first NFL game action after sitting out the team's preseason opener due to an ankle injury. He caught a four-yard pass from Justin Fields on the Jets' first offensive play, accounting for the starting quarterback's only completion in two drives of action. The rookie tight end has already ascended to the top of the depth chart at his position.
Aug 12, 2025
Back at practice in full
Taylor (ankle) is participating in team drills Tuesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain last week, an injury with a recovery timetable usually in the range of multiple weeks at best, but the rookie second-round pick already appears to be practicing in full. That's an extremely positive development Taylor, who now returns to action after missing only one preseason contest and appears on track for Saturday's exhibition game against the Giants. His quick recovery also constitutes a tremendous development for the Jets passing game as a whole. In addition to having few other options at tight end other than Taylor, who already appears entrenched atop the depth chart, New York's pass-catching corps has little in the way of playmakers behind Garrett Wilson and appears to anticipate Taylor handing a substantial role as a rookie.
Aug 5, 2025
Diagnosed with high-ankle sprain
Taylor has a high-ankle sprain, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Jets coach Aaron Glenn informed reporters of the diagnosis Tuesday, after Taylor missed a second straight practice. Glenn didn't comment on the severity of the sprain, only saying that the rookie will be out for at least a week, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. A severe high-ankle sprain would threaten Taylor's availability for the early part of the regular season, forcing the Jets to rely on the likes of Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt at tight end. Reports from the first week of training camp had Taylor working with the first-team offense, seemingly already atop the depth chart not long after the team picked him 42nd overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Aug 4, 2025
Sidelined by ankle injury Monday
Taylor (ankle) didn't practice Monday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Aaron Glenn will likely provide an update on Taylor's injury when Glenn speaks to reporters after Tuesday's practice if Taylor hasn't returned by then. Taylor has looked like the Jets' best tight end in training camp but is listed as the backup to Jeremy Ruckert on the unofficial depth chart the team released Sunday, though that may just be a matter of making the rookie second-round pick earn his starting spot in the preseason, which begins for the Jets with a road game in Green Bay on Saturday.
Jul 31, 2025
Likely to start immediately
Taylor looks ready to start out of the gate and has been operating ahead of Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt in training camp, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor has demonstrated good chemistry with quarterback Justin Fields and drawn praise from wide receiver Garrett Wilson for the rookie second-round pick's playmaking ability. Taylor's main competitors for snaps at tight end, Ruckert and Smartt, have combined for only one touchdown catch in 79 regular-season NFL games.
Jul 18, 2025
Gets $9.6 million guaranteed
Taylor signed his four-year rookie contract with the Jets on Friday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor's four-year, $10.5 million contract includes $9.6 million in guaranteed money. The Jets now have all their draft picks under contract, one day before rookies are set to report to training camp. Taylor, whom the Jets drafted 42nd overall in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, will compete for the starting tight end role against Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt, who have one regular-season NFL touchdown between them.
Apr 25, 2025
Lands with Jets
The Jets selected Taylor in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 42nd overall.
ANALYSIS
Tight end was a glaring need for the Jets in this draft, and they managed to wait until the second round and still get one of the best prospects at the position. The son of NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, Mason starred at LSU as a three-year starter. He had at least 35 receptions in each of his three years at LSU and had an expanded role in 2024 with 55 grabs for 546 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor did not test at the NFL Scouting Combine but ran a 4.68 40-yard dash at the LSU Pro Day at 6-foot-5 and 246 pounds. He has a fantasy-relevant skill set, and the landing spot couldn't be better for the prospects of early-career production.
