Limited role in 2024
Brown finished the 2024 season with seven total tackles (six solo), while also adding two passes defensed, including one interception, and a forced fumble over 11 regular-season games.
ANALYSIS
Brown saw his role on defense diminish in his second season with the Eagles, operating primarily as a special-teams option in 2024. The safety missed the first five games of the year with a knee injury, limiting his upside early in the year. Brown figures to be set to play a similar role with Philadelphia in 2025.

Cleared to play against Washington
Brown (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Brown was diagnosed with a concussion during the Eagles' Week 15 win over the Steelers. He started the week out with a DNP on Wednesday, but he managed to increase his practice participation that culminated in a full practice Friday. Brown has done enough to clear the league's five-step concussion protocols and will suit up in Sunday's NFC East showdown.

Done for rest of Sunday
Brown (head) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest against the Steelers, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown suffered a blow to the head on the game's opening play, ultimately being evaluated for a concussion. It's unclear if he did in fact suffer a concussion, but his day has come to an end regardless. Brown's impact is primarily on special teams, so his absence won't cause any major issues for Philadelphia's defense.

Exits game versus Steelers
Brown exited Sunday's game versus the Steelers and is being evaluated for a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Brown is now questionable to return after leaving the game early in the first quarter. If he ends up being unable to return, Tristin McCollum should see an uptick in playing time.
Dec 13, 2024
Good to go Week 15
Brown (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's battle against Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Brown didn't play this past Sunday against Carolina, but he appears set to return against the Steelers. The second-year safety began this week as a DNP, but he progressed to a limited practice session Thursday before participating in full Friday. Brown has played primarily on special teams this season while logging just 26 defensive snaps over seven games.
Dec 6, 2024
Ruled out for Week 14
Brown (knee) did not practice Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown was unable to practice all week due to a knee injury, and his next opportunity to play will be Week 15 against the Steelers on Sunday, Dec. 15. Brown has mostly played on special teams this season, but with Reed Blankenship (concussion) also ruled out for Sunday's game, Tristin McCollum is in line to start at free safety alongside strong safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Activated off PUP list
The Eagles activated Brown (knee) from the reserve/PUP list Saturday, Andrew DiCecco of InsideTheBirds.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown opened the season on the reserve/PUP list while recovering from offseason surgery to repair an ACL injury in late January. His 21-day practice window opened Oct. 7, and after practicing as a full participant in all three sessions this week, he's set to make his regular-season debut Sunday against the Giants. Brown played in 14 regular-season games last year and finished with 45 tackles (32 solo), three pass breakups, one forced fumble and a pick-six.
Oct 9, 2024
Full participant in practice
Brown (knee) was listed as a full practice participant on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Brown underwent surgery in January to repair a torn ACL, which caused him to start the 2024 regular season on injured reserve. The 2023 third-round pick appears to have benefited from the Eagles' Week 5 bye, as he was able to return to practice Wednesday without any limitations. Barring any setbacks, Brown should make his regular-season debut against Cleveland on Sunday.
Oct 7, 2024
Practice window opens
Brown (knee) was designated to return from the Eagles' reserve/PUP list Monday.
ANALYSIS
Brown had missed the first five weeks of Philadelphia's 2024 campaign after tearing his ACL in the Eagles' Week 18 loss to the Giants in 2023, but it now appears he's nearing a return to the field. The Eagles will have 21 days to activate Brown to their active roster before he reverts back to the team's reserve/PUP list. When Brown is fully past his knee issue, he's expected serve as Philadelphia's No. 2 free safety behind Reed Blankenship (illness).

Opening season on PUP list
Brown (knee) will open the regular season on the reserve/PUP list, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown is still recovering from offseason surgery to repair an ACL injury and he'll now be forced to miss at least four games to open the season. The safety will be first eligible to return Week 5 versus the Browns on Oct. 13.
Jul 21, 2024
Will begin camp on PUP list
Brown (knee) be placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This move isn't surprising, as Brown underwent surgery on his ACL in late January. It's not yet clear if the second-year safety will be ready for the start of the regular season, but he can be activated off the PUP list at any time in the preseason, at which point he'd be eligible to practice and participate in exhibition contests.

Undergoes surgery
Brown successfully underwent surgery for his ACL on Saturday, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown had a solid rookie year and finished the season with 45 tackles (32 solo), three passes defended, one forced fumble and an interception that was returned for a touchdown in Week 17 against the Cardinals. He sustained a ruptured ACL injury in Week 18 against the Giants that held him out of the Eagles' lone playoff game against the Buccaneers in the wild card round. Brown will turn his focus to the offseason and get ready for the 2024 campaign.

Finishes rookie year with one pick
Brown (knee) finished his rookie season with 45 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception in 14 regular-season games
ANALYSIS
Brown went through a mix of highs and lows after being selected 66th overall by the Eagles in April. He played a very minor role the first two games, then injured his hamstring in Week 3 and missed three contests. He returned as an important part of the Eagles' secondary, however, starting six of the team's final 11 games. He returned an interception for a touchdown in Week 17 but suffered a torn ACL in Week 18, an injury which could affect his availability for the start of next season.

Gets ruptured ACL confirmed
Brown sustained a ruptured ACL during Sunday's 27-10 loss against the Giants, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Unsurprisingly, the diagnosis means Brown will be done for the rest of the season, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. If Reed Blankenship is also unable to play in the wild-card round, it could mean a postseason start for Tristin McCollum.
Jan 7, 2024
Believed to have torn ACL
Brown is believed to have suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's game against the Giants, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown will undergo testing Monday to confirm his diagnosis, but he'll presumably face a lengthy recovery timetable that will sideline him for the playoffs and potentially the start of the 2024 season. He had a promising rookie season in which he tallied 45 tackles (32 solo), an interception, a forced fumble, three pass defenses a touchdown over 14 games.

Won't return Week 18
Brown (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Giants, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown was injured during a punt return and was assisted to the medical tent by trainers. Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports that Brown could barely walk to the locker room.

Full participant in walkthrough
Brown (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's walkthrough.
ANALYSIS
Brown has been out since suffering a hamstring injury during the team's Week 3 win against Tampa Bay but is now closer to making his return. The 22-year-old back could be in line to start versus Miami on Sunday as Reed Blankenship is dealing with a ribs injury.
Sep 29, 2023
Out Sunday
Brown (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Brown missed all of practice this week after suffering a hamstring injury during the Eagles' Monday night victory over Tampa Bay, so it's no surprise that he's since been ruled out of Week 4's contest. Terrell Edmonds could see an uptick in work as a rotational safety with Brown being held out this Sunday.

Exits against Bucs on MNF
Brown departed in the first half of Monday's game against Tampa Bay due to a thigh injury and is questionable to return, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown made a big play midway through the second quarter, knocking away what looked to be a touchdown pass to Mike Evans in the end zone. However, he subsequently departed with a thigh injury. Prior to his exit, the rookie notched two tackles (one solo) in addition to the defensed pass.

Philly adds in third round
The Eagles selected Brown in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 66th overall.
ANALYSIS
Brown (5-foot-10, 211 pounds) is the identical twin of running back and former Illinois teammate Chase Brown, and like his brother, Sydney offers eye-catching athleticism on a sturdy frame. Brown's 4.47-second 40, 40.5-inch vertical and 130-inch broad jump are all excellent figures, and Brown was otherwise a standout producer in a smothering Illinois secondary. Brown needs to get his angles under control -- he seems to gun himself out of frame a good amount when crashing down for run support -- but if the Eagles can coach up Brown's tackling fundamentals, he should emerge as a viable starter.
