Matt Boyd will get the start for the Tigers tonight. He’s a lefty who has allowed righties to hit a .184 ISO and wOBA of .348 this season. Over the last 30 days, it’s been more of the same. Boyd has allowed a .182 ISO and wOBA of .338.
The Rangers have one of the hottest righties in the lineup tonight. Josh Jung has slugged a .333 ISO and wOBA of .440 over the last month against lefties. He’s also struck out only 12% of the time in his last 25 plate appearances against lefties. Jung has also slugged 23.8% of line drives and has hit 57.1% of hard contact against lefties in the last 30 days.
Boyd has given up 25% of lien drives in the last month and has watched righties hit 58.3% of hard contact against him in that same time.
Jung should bat near the top of the lineup tonight and is a significant threat against any left-handed pitcher. It’s just even better when it’s Boyd, who has been awful against righties, to begin with.

Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels

Reid Detmers has earned over 30% of strikeouts against righties in the last month. He’s a left-handed thrower who will face eight righties in tonight’s lineup.
The White Sox have struck out 23.9% of the time against lefties over the last 30 days. They’ve also got six batters striking out at least 22.7% of the time against lefties. Chicago even has two batters striking out at least 34% of the time against lefties in the last month.
Detmers has limited rights to a .099 ISO and wOBA of .236. He’s also limited fly balls to 16.3%. He should get through this White Sox lineup for most of the game. He’s rarely allowing a high barrel percentage and is getting a high whiff percentage and swinging strikes against righties.
Let’s back Detmers to earn at least seven strikeouts. It’s looking like he’ll be going deep in tonight’s game. The White Sox have more batters struggling against lefties than having success against lefties.

Our final prop will be on Teoscar Hernandez.
Hernandez is a right-handed batter having major success against right-handed throwers. He’ll face Trevor Williams, who has struggled against both lefties and righties. To righties, he’s allowed a .196 ISO and wOBA of .367.
Williams isn’t getting high strikeouts over the last month. He’s also allowing 23.8% of line drives with 52.4% of hard contact over the last 30 days. Against righties, Williams hasn’t earned a high whiff percentage and is only earning 9.5% of swinging strikes against righties in the last 30 days. Meanwhile, Teoscar Hernandez has minimized ground balls to 40.4% and has hit 34% of line drives and fly balls against righties over the last month.
Hernandez has also hit 55.3% of hard contact, giving up a perfect matchup against Williams, knowing Williams is allowing so much hard contact to righties lately. Although Williams is a right-handed pitcher, he’s allowing more extra-base hits to righties this year. Righties have a .227 ISO and wOBA of .331, while lefties only have a .178 ISO and wOBA of .354.
Again, he’s been bad against both sides of the plate. But more extra-base hits are coming from righties. Hernandez is a righty that will likely bat cleanup. He’ll have at least four chances to hit one extra-base hit or earn two base hits to get his total bases prop. Hernandez also has high strikeouts against righties. But Williams has only struck out 22.6% of righties in the last month. His strikeout numbers are decreasing monthly. That should help Hernandez put the ball in play and make things happen.
