Tuesday’s college basketball schedule includes a trio of ranked teams from the Big 12 in action, one contest taking place in Cowtown and the other two tipping in the Sunflower State. Let’s go ahead and break down our college basketball betting picks for January 30.

Picks Summary

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. TCU Horned Frogs

Tuesday, January 30, 2024 – 07:00 PM ET at Schollmaier Arena

Fresh off one upset road win, the Texas Tech Red Raiders look for another when they visit Ft. Worth on Tuesday for a key clash with the TCU Horned Frogs that finds both sides in the top 30 of Ken Pomeroy’s latest rankings.

Tech Aims to Hold Top Spot in League

According to the top sportsbooks, recording a 2nd-straight road win is going to be difficult for the Red Raiders. Most shops favor TCU by 4½-5, with 149 for the total.

Texas Tech sits percentage points ahead of Houston in the Big 12 ranks, with Iowa State directly behind that pair. Four more teams, including TCU, are within 2 games of the leaders.

Frogs Also Coming Off Underdog Road Win

Getting 3½ Saturday afternoon in Norman, Texas Tech used a huge game from Chance McMillian to nip Oklahoma, 85-84. McMillian scored a career-high 27 to lead the Red Raiders, and canned 6-of-8 from beyond the arc to help Texas Tech maintain the top spot in the conference.

Down in Waco, the Horned Frogs were also 3½-point road ‘dogs on the NCAAB odds and busy with a thriller of their own that needed three overtimes before coming away with a 105-102 decision over Baylor. Jameer Nelson Jr. led the way for TCU with 30 points.

The Series & The Pick

The Horned Frogs won both contests a year ago, but that didn’t make a dent in Texas Tech’s 86-55 lead in the rivalry. The teams are a level 33-33 at Schollmaier, with TCU winning the last three.

With expectations for a tight affair, taking Texas Tech and the points is the way to go.

NCAAB Pick: Texas Tech +5 (-110) at Bet365 (check our Bet365 Review)

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Kansas State Wildcats

Tuesday, January 30, 2024 – 08:00 PM ET at Bramlage Coliseum

After falling at home to Texas Tech, Oklahoma needs a victory to pull back even in the Big 12 standings. However, the Sooners haven’t picked an easy place to win on the road, with Kansas State favored by 3 at Bet365.

Which Team Sees Losing Skid Extended to 3?

It was a rough week for the Sooners. Prior to the 85-84 loss to Texas Tech, Oklahoma suffered a 75-60 setback to rival Texas, going stone-cold in the second half when the Longhorns outscored the Sooners 20-6 over the final 11 minutes. Oklahoma was a home favorite in both games.

Kansas State also lost both of its games a week ago, with both taking place on the road and as the underdog. The Wildcats looked lost in Saturday’s 74-52 defeat at Houston, falling behind 11-0 at the start and never really looking interested in mounting much of a comeback.

‘Cats 19-9 vs. OU at Bramlage

Each side scored a win and cover at home a season ago, leaving Oklahoma 113-104 in the series. Kansas State’s triumph in the final week of the regular season halted a 3-game streak in the series by the Sooners, and the last four meetings were ‘over’ winners.

Neither team is playing well, leaving us to follow the trend of ‘over’ winners between the rivals.

NCAAB Pick: Over 138 (-110) at Bet365

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Kansas Jayhawks

Tuesday, January 30, 2024 – 09:00 PM ET at Allen Fieldhouse

The Big 12 Highway has not been kind to Kansas, but the Jayhawks should find life a little better at home on Tuesday with a raucous crowd backing them in a clash with Oklahoma State.

Jayhawks Seeking Season Sweep of Cowboys

The only conference road win Kansas owns came two weeks ago in Stillwater where the Jayhawks pounded the Cowboys, 90-66. It was a wire-to-wire victory, with all five starters reaching double figures and the Jayhawks demolishing Oklahoma State in the paint, 46-24.

Beating Oklahoma State is nothing new for Kansas; the Jayhawks have dominated the Cowboys by winning 124 of the 184 meetings, and have won the last six. Oklahoma State has dropped its last five trips to Lawrence.

Cowboys 13th in Big 12 Turning it Over

After beginning conference play with six losses, the Cowboys finally got into the win column with a 70-66 win at home over West Virginia on Saturday. They were without backup center Mike Marsh due to illness, and the 6-10 senior is questionable to play Tuesday.

All three of the Jayhawks’ Big 12 losses have been on the road, the latest at Iowa State last weekend. It was the first time this season for Kansas to play as the underdog, and the silver lining was the +4½ gave Jayhawk backers just enough to cash.

The Pick

With Houston coming to Lawrence this weekend, it opens things up for a backdoor OSU cover if Bill Self comes off the gas too early. Still, a college basketball pick on the Jayhawks is warranted.

NCAAB Pick: Kansas -16 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook (check our Caesars Sportsbook Review)
