Here’s a Big 12 clash that’s worthy of our attention right off the jump. No. 17 Kansas State and No. 22 Iowa State will meet in Dublin, Ireland, at high noon on August 23rd. Those who are familiar with these programs understand that Iowa State has had the upper hand recently, winning four of its last five meetings and covering in every single one.

Idaho State vs. UNLV (-25 ½)
Saturday, August 23, 2025 – 4:00 PM EDT at Allegiant Stadium
This is the second of only five games on Saturday’s Week 0 slate, but if we peruse the line, it appears the squares will be lining up on the Runnin’ Rebs, laying more than three touchdowns and a field goal. The oddsmakers over at BetMGM have UNLV -25½, which makes me think these teams might be playing basketball, but in fact, they will be duking it out on the gridiron.
These schools haven’t met often, but over the last three meetings dating back to 2006, UNLV has handled Idaho State with ease. Their most recent meeting was in 2022, when the Rebels laid the smack down on the Idaho State Bengals and won, 52-21, easily covering as 23-point home chalk.

Fresno State vs. Kansas (-12 ½)

As of this writing, Kansas is favored by 12½ across the board, including at major shops like Caesars and BetMGM. At first blush, this looks like a mismatch, with Kansas hailing from the Big 12 while Fresno State tries to stay relevant in the Mountain West Conference.
However, Fresno State did cover two of its last three games of last season and got to a bowl game, while Kansas ended the season with a 5-7 mark and was blown out by unranked Baylor in its last regular-season game, 45-17.
Naturally, the quality of competition Kansas faced was incrementally better than the level of opposition faced by the Bulldogs, but 12½ points is a lot to give, especially on opening day after a disappointing season. Don’t rule out Fresno State; they could be poised for an upset.
