College Football Odds for Week 5: Sept 22-28

Ryan Williams #2 of the Alabama Crimson Tide scores a 19 yard touchdown against the Wisconsin Badgers

The college football odds Week 5 are already up, and below we will review three pivotal matchups this week and discuss where the point spread was, where it is, and where it may end up at game time.

Let’s dissect these marquee matchups on Saturday and the corresponding odds that can be found at all the best licensed US sportsbooks, right here, at OddsTrader’s live odds platform.

LSU Tigers vs. Ole Miss Rebels (-3½)

Saturday, September 27, 2025 – 3:30 PM EDT

LSU checks in with a perfect 4-0 record and is firmly entrenched as a CFP entry. However, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we should bear in mind that this is only Week 5 and much can change between now and the end of the regular season.

Last week, the Tigers mauled Southeast Louisiana, 56-10, but despite the lopsided score, it was not enough to cover the 49-point impost demanded by the oddsmakers. This week, they will experience a significant step up in class when SEC rival Ole Miss comes to town.

Like LSU, Ole Miss is nationally ranked and boasts a 4-0 mark. The Rebels have covered three of their four regular-season contests, including a 45-10 spanking of Tulane, easily cashing as 11½ point home chalk. This will pit two SEC powers basking in front of a national audience in the bright, hot spotlight of college football’s premier Week 5 games.

This line opened at Ole Miss -1½, but some early sharp money on LSU has shifted that line to where the visiting Tigers are now at -1½ against the Rebels.

Oregon Ducks vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (-3½)

Saturday, September 27, 2025 – 7:30 PM EDT

The Oregon Ducks are contending for a Big Ten title this season, and they will put their undefeated 4-0 record on the line when they travel to the Keystone State to tangle with their tough-as-nails conference rivals, the equally undefeated Nittany Lions.

The Ducks were last seen throttling their neighbors from Oregon State in a 41-7 demolition of the Beavers. Despite the 34-point victory, the oddsmakers nailed that spread, with Oregon being tagged as 34-point favorites.

As for Penn State, they are 3-0 and have won by the following scores this season: 46-11 over Nevada, 34-0 over FIU, and in their last appearance, they beat Villanova 52-6. However, Penn State failed to cover in all those games, being saddled between a 42 and a 47½ favorite in each one of those contests.

As for this matchup on Saturday, we see the OddsTrader’s live odds module revealing Penn State opening as a 3½ point home favorite, and that line has stayed solid ever since.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Georgia Bulldogs (-3)

Saturday, September 27, 2025 – 7:30 PM EDT

The OddsTrader’s live odds module illustrates that Georgia has dropped from a 4½ point home favorite over their SEC nemesis from Tuscaloosa to 3½ point home chalk.

Alabama is looking for redemption after dropping its season opener, 31-17, to FSU as 13½ point favorites under the new head coach, Kalen DeBoer, who is trying desperately to fill the gaping void after legendary coach Nick Saban retired. The Tide has rebounded with two consecutive wins to carve a 2-1 record after a bye last week.

Georgia may be undefeated this season at 3-0, but they have yet to cash at the windows for their backers, going 2-1 against the spread. They, like their opponents this week, were off last week with a bye, but before that, they battled Tennessee in a 44-41 shootout and pushed as 3-point road chalk.

Alabama has won 9 of the last 10 games between these teams.
