Before we can bet on games, we have to take a look at the live NCAAF odds. This week, three games interest me: LSU vs. Vanderbilt, Ole Miss vs. Georgia, and Michigan State vs. Indiana.
Last week, LSU beat South Carolina 20-10, winning in a not very convincing fashion. Ole Miss survived against Washington State in what was apparently a hangover game following Ole Miss’ win over LSU. Georgia gutted out a win over Auburn by scoring the final 20 points of the game. Michigan State got boatraced by UCLA. Indiana upset Oregon and is now counted among the elite of college football.Â
NCAAF Odds Week 8 At-A-Glance
Let’s take a look at the NCAAF odds for week 8. Some games feel like they are lined very strangely. So, it’ll make sense to break down those games in order to make it easier to find strong betting opportunities for them.
We’ll look at Michigan State vs. Indiana and Ole Miss vs. Georgia, after previewing LSU vs. Vanderbilt.
LSU Tigers vs. Vanderbilt Commodores (-2.5)
Saturday, October 18, 2025 – 12:00 PM EDT
Before the season began, LSU was, albeit somewhat controversially, thought to be a national title contender. Conversely, negative expectations get attached to Vanderbilt because it is thought of primarily as an academically-oriented institution.
The Commodores did make great progress last year, going from 2-10 in 2023 to 6-6. As part of their 6-6 record, they beat Alabama and stayed within three points of two different top-seven teams. This year, they have taken another leap forward. They are now 5-1, with their best win being a 24-point victory over eleventh-ranked South Carolina.
This week, they opened as 1.5-point favorites against LSU. It feels bewildering to see the Commodores favored over such a high-profile program like LSU. Still, to be objective about it, these odds make sense. Vanderbilt has the fourth-highest-scoring offense in all of college football. Conversely, LSU has looked rather ho-hum, as evident in its most recent ten-point win over South Carolina. The Tigers’ star quarterback is playing banged-up, and his mediocre stats reflect that. You can check matchup details here:
The lackluster quality of LSU’s offense makes the spread reasonable. Still, because it’s LSU, I would expect the odds to shift in its favor for this first matchup.
Ole Miss Rebels vs. Georgia Bulldogs (-6.5)
Saturday, October 18, 2025 – 3:30 PM EDT
Georgia under Kirby Smart is always expected to be a national title contender. But since 2022, Georgia has been a bit down. The Bulldogs missed the playoffs in 2023 and were ousted in the first round last year. While the Bulldogs are 5-1 now, they have been unimpressive against ranked competition. They lost at home to Alabama and edged underdog Tennessee in overtime.
Ole Miss is the fifth-ranked team in the country and is going to get a lot of love from bettors in this matchup. With a win over LSU, the Rebels remain undefeated.
The big question to watch is Ole Miss’ quarterback situation. With Austin Simmons hurt, Trinidad Chambliss has been playing at quarterback. Led by Chambliss, Ole Miss’ offense looked horrible against heavy underdog Washington State. Simmons, who has thrown as many interceptions as touchdowns, has had his problems, but he might still be the Rebels’ best option.
The line for this game opened at Georgia -9.5, but given the fact that Ole Miss is undefeated and ranked at number 5, expect the odds to shift in Ole Miss’ favor.
Michigan State Spartans vs. Indiana Hoosiers (-26.5)
Saturday, October 18, 2025 – 3:30 PM EDT
It is starting to look like Michigan State might go winless in Big Ten play. The Spartans are coming off a 25-point loss to UCLA, although this loss doesn’t look quite as bad in view of UCLA’s upset win over Penn State, in which the Bruins displayed great success on offense.
Indiana is looking much better than UCLA, though. The Hoosiers just upset third-ranked Oregon by ten points, even though the game took place in Oregon. Indiana is now ranked number three.
The line for this game opened at -26.5. Spartans quarterback Aidan Chiles was injured against UCLA. While his backup looked horrible, Chiles himself looked terrible both last week and two weeks ago. Michigan State’s offense has been so bad at producing yards that a quarterback decision might not alter the line at all. The Spartans look like a declining team led by a head coach who is probably on his way out.
That being said, I don’t think the line will move in Indiana’s favor for this Indiana-Michigan St. matchup, because this is a classic let-down situation for the Hoosiers.Â
What We’ve Covered and Next Steps
We’re inevitably most excited to see Georgia and Ole Miss square off. These two teams are determined to make the playoffs. The result of their meeting could have dire implications that affect the loser’s ability to make the playoffs.
In this article, we examined the NCAAF odds week 8. If you’re jumping to bet on Ole Miss, the odds look suspicious to me. I’d look into betting on Georgia in view of its superior quarterback situation. As for LSU vs. Vanderbilt, I don’t see that spread as any kind of trap. Bet on that game without suspicion. Indiana vs. Michigan State is also worth an investment that should be determined by how well you think Indiana can focus on the Spartans after achieving such a major upset.
