College Football Player Props for Week 3: Sept. 8-14

Bryant Wesco Jr. #12 of the Clemson Tigers scores touchdown in the fourth quarter as Kaleno Levine #5 of the Troy Trojans defends

After coming within two Brett Eskildsen receiving yards of sweeping our recommended Week 2 college football player props, it’s time to shift focus to Week 3 – formerly the last tranche of non-conference games for most clubs. There’s less room for cupcakes these days, now that we have the College Football Playoff putting more emphasis on strength of schedule, and conferences getting rid of their East/West and North/South divisions as they expand.

Speaking of which, we’re looking at two all-ACC matchups that look especially tasty for our college football player props in Week 3. And we get to hammer the Over for all three.

Cade Klubnik: Over 255.5 Passing Yards (–115) at Caesars

Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Saturday, September 13, 12:00 PM EDT

Long gone are the days when the Tigers (1-1 SU, 0-2 ATS) could tear through their non-con schedule and sneak into the postseason by winning the ACC title. And thanks in part to the barrels of money being dumped on every major conference, the gap between Clemson and teams like Georgia Tech (2-0 SU and ATS) has shrunk considerably.

There’s still a gap, though.

BCF Toys has Georgia’s defense ranked No. 51 in the nation according to their F+ Ratings heading into Week 3. Clemson’s offense ranks No. 33; Cade Klubnik was held to 230 passing yards on 19-of-38 throwing in their 17-10 loss to the LSU Tigers, but that was a significantly tougher test against the No. 23-ranked defense on the F+ charts.

Bryant Wesco: Over 62.5 Receiving Yards (–115) at Caesars

Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Saturday, September 13, 12:00 PM EDT

If Klubnik projects to outperform Saturday’s totals, his wideouts should do the same – but we’re skipping past WR-H Antonio Williams and WR-X T.J. Moore to grab WR-Z Bryant Wesco for betting value.

There are ample targets to go around in offensive coordinator Garrett Riley’s version of the Air Raid, which retains most of the key players from last year’s 10-4 squad (5-6 ATS).

The Tigers have a smidge of value on the point spread now that they’ve moved from –6 at the open to –3.5 at press time. So, if you include that in a package with these two props, you’ll look more like a casual Clemson fan, and less like the kind of sharp bettor that gets their action capped by certain sportsbooks.

Robby Ashford Over 32.5 Rushing Yards (–115) at Caesars

North Carolina State Wolfpack vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Thursday, September 11, 07:30 PM EDT

Alas, we can’t recommend the Demon Deacons (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) for Thursday night’s prime-time tilt on ESPN, but we still have their starting quarterback in our NCAAF player props – even if it’s for rushing yards.

Robby Ashford is a fast and effective scrambler, piling up 108 yards on 25 carries in his first two games at Wake after two seasons at Auburn and another at South Carolina.

NC State (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) is supposed to have a dominant run defense, which is why Thursday’s total is this low, but they look a lot less dangerous after allowing 257 rushing yards in their 35-31 win over Virginia (+3 away). That included 56 yards on three carries for QB Chandler Morris.

Expect more of the same this week.
