College Football Picks for Week 6: Sept 29-Oct 5

Diego Pavia #2 of the Vanderbilt Commodores throws a pass in the first half during a game against the Virginia Tech Hokies

Our college football picks for Week 6 are below, as we want to get an early jump on the NCAAF odds and take advantage of those important numbers.

Last week, we had our share of thrills and spills, especially in the SEC, where Bama continued its domination of Georgia and Ole Miss shocked LSU in front of a rabid Rebels audience.

Let’s analyze these three Saturday matchups and the corresponding odds.

Shopping Early for the Best Number

You wouldn’t go to just one dealership to buy a car, right? You’d shop around, compare prices, and get the best deal available. That’s what any smart businessman or woman would do, and handicapping college football games is no different.

That said, this week we have:

  • Georgia -21
  • Penn State -25 ½
  • Vanderbilt +11

Penn State Nittany Lions vs. UCLA Bruins (+25.5)

Penn State suffered its first loss of the season last week, and to make matters worse, it happened during a White Out game at Happy Valley in double overtime to the team they lost to in the Big 12 championship last year, Oregon.

Needless to say, the Lions won’t be happy entering this one against a cupcake this year, UCLA.

Speaking of which, the Bruins are winless after four games and only covered the number in their last game against Northwestern, where they dropped a 17-14 decision but cashed for all those who backed them as 6.5-point road dogs.

The problem with UCLA is that they struggle to score, averaging just a pinch over 14 points per game. Meanwhile, Penn State averages 39 points per game, and they won’t be facing a stout Bruins’ defense this week.

This looks like a blowout waiting to happen, so lay the lumber and like it!

Expert Pick: Penn State -25.5 (-110) at BetMGM

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Georgia Bulldogs (-21)

If you don’t think Georgia is going to be loaded for bear after dropping a 24-21 decision to their archrivals, Alabama, then you don’t know much about SEC grudges. The Dawgs will be ready to roll when this weak sister comes to Athens.

Georgia has defeated the Wildcats 10 straight times, yet narrowly kept that streak intact last year when they edged Kentucky 13-12 at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky.

This year, the venue shifts to Athens, Georgia, and the last time these teams met at Sanford Stadium, Georgia had plenty of bite, coasting to a 51-13 victory as 14.5 home chalk.

This team, which is one of the very best in the nation, is facing an opponent that was blown out last week, 35-13, against a much weaker foe, South Carolina.

Expert Pick: Georgia -21 (-110) at Caesars

Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Alabama Crimson Tide (-10)

Vanderbilt has been the SEC’s punching bag, but this year is different.

They have a gutsy, gritty quarterback named Diego Pavia, who has been a shot of adrenaline for the program. The Commodores are 5-0 this season, and with Pavia getting the keys to the car last year, Vandy pulled off an upset of the Tide, 40-35, as 23-point home dogs.

This year, they are even better, and even though they will no longer be a surprise to Bama as they were last year, this Commodores team is certainly good enough to hang and bang within the generous margins the oddsmakers are giving us.

We should also keep in mind that this appears to be a trap game for the Tide, coming off an enormous win over Georgia and perhaps looking ahead to next week when they must travel to Missouri to meet the No. 19 Tigers from the SEC.

Expert Pick: Vanderbilt +11 (-110) at Caesars

The college football picks for Week 6 will not stay stagnant forever. Odds, point spreads, and totals are dynamic, which means the moneylines and point spreads you see here may not be around by gametime.

Therefore, it is important that you get the sharpest line available, and the only way to do that is to get down immediately on the games and make sure you have an active account.

That’s right, make certain your account is funded, and perhaps get accounts at two or more reputable sportsbooks so you can compare the numbers. Make sure to get down at a place you trust and at the best lines or odds available.
