Invitational Format and Course
This year there’s a change to the year-ending event on the PGA Tour as they incorporate sixteen LPGA players with sixteen PGA Tour professionals for the three-day event at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
The three-day format opens with Scramble on Friday where the teams choose their best shot, and both play from there on each occasion. Saturday is the testing day for the male/female combinations when they play foursomes – alternate shots and alternate tee shots. Strategy and patience are crucial on day two before the finale on day three with a modified better-ball format. “Modified” means they play their partner’s ball after their tee shot through to completion of the hole.
It is an interesting slant this year with the sixteen LPGA Tour players, many of whom would have played in the recent CME Tour Championship that bookends the LPGA Tour season. This effectively means they know the track slightly better than the men.

Trust the Transatlantic Pairing of Harris English and Céline Boutier?
The transatlantic pairing of Céline Boutier and Harris English takes our eye this week for the Grant Thornton Invitational.

It was eye-catching how he played the last event of the fall series on the PGA Tour, the RSM Classic and that will have enabled the thirty-four-year-old from Georgia to keep sharp for this week.
Céline Boutier has had a brilliant season on the LPGA Tour winning the Evian Championship, which was her first major at the age of thirty. She was something of a controversial figure on the Solheim Cup team for Europe, but she is an emotionally charged player who gets hot on and off the course. Positively for this week, she has gotten hot before at the track when she finished 3rd in last year’s CME Tour Championship.
We believe that there are several positive contributing factors for trusting the pairing of Céline Boutier and Harris English, who both have strong course and current form while being sportingly priced at (+1200).

Will the English Rose be Blooming?
The English pairing of Charley Hull and Justin Rose could be in full bloom this week in Naples, Florida.
The dynamic Charley Hull has a strong affinity for the Tiburon Golf Club, having won her maiden LPGA Tour title at the track back in 2016, while also finishing as runner-up three years later to illustrate further that liking for the track.
Hull is a box office draw on the ladies’ tour with her swagger and attacking game. Justin Rose himself has been a real ambassador and advocate for the female game with his feeder tour, the Rose Ladies Series that was founded in 2020 by his wife Kate bringing through the top junior female golfers in England.
