Hero World Challenge

November 30 – December 3 at Albany Golf Course

Tiger Woods’ Return

The Hero World Challenge, which is a limited-field invitation event, sees a much-anticipated return to action for the esteemed host Tiger Woods. Only time will tell if his damaged leg is up to tournament play, but it is a shot in the arm for the PGA Tour to end their turbulent season with his return after the news of Jon Rahm’s potential defection last week to LIV for a reported $600 million.

Course and Weather

The weather is set fair as is often the case this time of the year at Providence Island in the Bahamas. The Albany Golf Course is always one of the easier tests on the PGA Tour, with its smaller-than-average Bermuda Grass greens and generous fairways. The flat layout means no fatigue for the players, which will help Tiger Woods and it looks set to be a low-scoring contest. With five par-5s, aggressive golf is the order of the day and par-5 scoring can be a key metric worth a second glance.

Be Careful with Bet Sizing This Week

When taking our bets this week on the Hero World Challenge, keep stakes more modest than the normal PGA Tour season as many of the players have been inactive for several weeks.

Can Viktor Hovland Complete a Hat-Trick of Hero Titles in Succession?

Yes, Viktor Hovland looks to have a great opportunity to complete a magical three-peat at the Hero World Challenge this week.

It is a very unusual dynamic for a golfer to be going for his third PGA Tour title at the same event in successive years. But we know how the young Norwegian finished the 20222/2023 season brilliantly with his FedEx Cup win and unlike many of this week’s competitors he has been busy over on the DP World Tour in recent weeks.

Having no competition rust is a huge positive this week for the twenty-six-year-old from Oslo, and he cuts a strong figure as a favorite at the Hero World Challenge.

Here at OddsTrader, we propose you have a win-only bet on Viktor Hovland at this week’s Hero World Challenge with Bet365 at the price of (+350).

Golf Pick: Viktor Hovland to Win Outright (+350) at Bet365 (check our Bet365 Review)

Will This Be the Week for Cameron Young?

Yes, we believe this could be the week Cameron Young finally wins his first PGA Tour event.

The twenty-six-year-old from the Big Apple was third at the Albany Golf Course last year on his debut at the track. Importantly, it plays into his strengths as a generous driving links type track given, he nearly won the 2022 Open Championship at St. Andrews.

Recently, he has kept himself in touch with creditable efforts at the RSM Classic and Worldwide Technology Championship.

On both occasions, he didn’t quite put together the four good rounds he needed but they promised much, so we like Cameron Young’s chances this week at a sporting price of (+2500) with Unibet.

Is Sepp Straka a Long Shot with A Squeak?

We wonder if Sepp Straka is a shred of value this week at the Hero World Challenge.

We know that the thirty-year-old Austrian has had another stellar season on the PGA Tour with a win at the John Deere Classic and a Ryder Cup debut to look back on fondly. He also completed a runner-up finish at the Open Championship and 7th at the PGA to back up further. Yes, this season’s win at the John Deere Classic was on Bentgrass, but many of the Vienna-born player’s best results on the PGA Tour have come on Bermuda Grass greens.

Interestingly, Straka was 10th on debut on his beloved Bermuda Grass Greens, and now with last year’s experience in the bag, combined with keeping himself sharp on the DP World Tour recently, we have a serious improver on our hands this week in the Bahamas.

Sepp Straka is an appealing long shot at one of our top sportsbooks at +3300 for this week’s Hero World Challenge.

Golf Pick: Sepp Straka to Win Outright (+3300) at Bet365
