New York’s Lefties Have The Power
The Mets were swept by the Rays over the weekend, so they’ll be looking to get back on track in their new series against the Cardinals.
With Kyle Gibson on the mound, the Mets should see some offense, especially from lefties. Gibson has allowed a .246 ISO and wOBA of .326 to 80 lefties this season. He’s also allowed more than 34% of fly balls to lefties and isn’t getting high strikeouts or high-ground balls.
Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, Brett Baty and D.J. Stewart are all major bats against righties for the Mets from the left side.
Just Limit Walks, Manaea
On the other hand, Sean Manaea will take the hill for the Mets. He’s a lefty who has allowed a .038 ISO and wOBA of .288 to start the season. The only issue is that he’s walked 14.1% of batters to begin the season.
Manaea walked just 8.4% of batters last season, so this is a bit surprise.
Either way, the Cardinals’ projected lineup against lefties has hit a .109 ISO and wOBA of .294 since last season.
