Top-rated sportsbooks and OddsTrader’s computers have released their MLB picks for today’s action.

In order to combine the power of our AI Model with the insightfulness of a handicapper, I have chosen my three favorite computer picks.

Picks Summary

  • Brewers ML (-110)
  • Athletics -1.5 (-105)
  • Phillies ML (-110)

Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 02:15 PM EDT at Busch Stadium

Our computers predict a Milwaukee victory over St. Louis. In alignment with this prediction, I recommend betting on the Brewers to win.

Jose Quintana

Milwaukee starts Jose Quintana today. He is a perfect 3-0 in his three starts thus far. He has allowed no more than one run in any of his starts even though he’s endured at least 5.2 innings in each of them.

It’s not like he’s only facing soft competition, either. One difficult opponent that he faced was Arizona, which ranks third in runs per game. He threw seven shutout innings in the Diamondbacks’ venue.

Quintana vs. Cardinals Batters

We have every reason to expect Quintana to continue dominating. St. Louis batters, when they last faced Quintana, did not encounter a version of him that is as strong as the version that they’ll see today. Nevertheless, their track record against him is terrible.

In 55 at-bats with Quintana on the mound, they have all of five hits. They have over three times as many strikeouts as hits. Quintana loves facing St. Louis batters in their venue. In Busch Stadium, he owns a career 2.89 ERA.

St. Louis’ Starter

Erick Fedde starts for the Cardinals today. He is coming off a start where he was fortunate to allow as few runs as he did. His 5.70 FIP (like ERA but factors out fielding) was quite bad. He benefited from a fortunately low BABIP (batting average of balls in play) and an unsustainably high strand rate.

It is one thing to have a good FIP that is only slightly higher than one’s ERA, but Fedde’s FIP in his last start reflects how poor his current form really is.

Fedde vs. Brewers Batters

Fedde’s outlook is negative today, especially because Milwaukee’s batters own an excellent track record against him. In 74 at-bats with Fedde on the mound, the Brewers slug .689.

Six different Brewers batters slug at least .500 against him.

Milwaukee will have no trouble scoring enough runs for Quintana to pick up the win today.

MLB Pick: Brewers ML (-110) at Bet365

Chicago White Sox vs. Athletics

Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 04:05 PM EDT at Sutter Health Park

Our computers indicate that the Athletics will dominate the White Sox by over 1.5 runs. In accordance with this indication, I recommend wagering on the A’s run-line.

Chicago’s Starter

Davis Martin starts for the White Sox today. His ERA doesn’t look terrible, but it is going to become much worse today.

He is not a pitcher who can sustain the level, however modest, of success that he is currently enjoying. Professional batters will pounce on a guy, like Martin, who doesn’t generate strikeouts and also fails to reduce the rate at which batters make hard contact with his pitches.

Eventually, a lot of hard contact is going to lead to many runs for the lineup that Martin is facing.

Martin vs. A’s Batters

Indeed, the A’s themselves scored a lot of runs off Martin. On April 17, he faced the A’s. They scored four earned runs off him in 5.1 innings.

One must expect them to thrive against Martin, not simply because Martin is subpar, but also because they match up excellently against him. Against his four favorite pitches from righties, they rank third with a .471 slugging rate.

Osvaldo Bido

Osvaldo Bido starts for the Athletics today. His ERA is awful, but his ERA does not reflect his season as a whole. Instead, his awful ERA is a consequence of a single start in which he was dominated by the Rangers.

The White Sox are not the Rangers, though. Bido already knows this, as he allowed one run in 5.2 innings when he faced them on April 16.

Matchup Details

Bido matches up excellently against Chicago batters. They rank 26th with a .342 slugging rate against his favorite pitches from righties.

One must thus expect the White Sox to fail to keep pace with their opponent’s level of scoring.

MLB Pick: Athletics -1.5 (-105) at Bet365

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago Cubs

Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 07:00 PM EDT at Wrigley Field

Our computers have determined that the Phillies will beat the Cubs tonight. Accordingly, I recommend betting on the Phillies ML.

Aaron Nola

Philadelphia starts Aaron Nola tonight. His ERA is bad, but his last start came against a Mets lineup that regularly hits him well.

His FIP was under 2.70 in his two starts before his last one, showing how capable he remains.

Tonight’s game presents a great opportunity for Nola to right his ship. He is a proven winner in Chicago’s Wrigley Field where he is 4-1 in his career and where he has yielded a good FIP in his recent starts there.

Outlook for Philly Batters

Nola won’t even need to pitch as well as he will tonight, because he’ll get plenty of run support.

Philly batters can’t wait to face Jameson Taillon, today’s starter for Chicago, because they rank tenth with a .424 slugging rate against his favorite pitches from righties.

It feels too easy to bet on the pitcher with the better ERA, but a deeper dive shows that Philadelphia, with Nola starting,g is the play to make.

MLB Pick: Phillies ML (-110) at Bet365
