NBA Computer Picks for November 15: Can the Raptors Defense Outshine the Bucks?

With eight games on the NBA slate tonight, the AI Model has given us three best bets. Which ones are you tailing?

Picks Summary

Dallas Mavericks vs. Washington Wizards

Wednesday, November 15, 2023 – 07:00 PM ET at Capital One Arena

Our AI Model believes the Mavericks and Wizards will combine for 236 points in tonight’s matchup. With the total sitting at 243.5, the Under is the play.

The Dallas Mavericks have a great offense that should dominate the Wizards. The Mavericks have added 121 points per 100 possessions while shooting a league-best 58.6 effective field goal percentage.

However, the Mavericks might not earn many offensive rebounds against the Wizards, even with the Wizards giving up 33.8% of offensive rebounds per game this year.

But to hit the Over, you need both teams to score points.

The Wizards are dead last in offensive rebounding rate and rarely get to the foul line. They’re also turning the ball over 14.2% of the time and have scored a bottom ten rate in points per 100 possessions.

The Wizards have had moments where the offense just falls flat for an entire quarter. They’re hard to trust offensively.

Asking for 243.5 points between the Mavericks and Wizards is a little too much. I’m with the AI Model on this one.

NBA Pick: Under 243.5 (-110) at Bet365 (check our Bet365 Review)

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Toronto Raptors

Wednesday, November 15, 2023 – 07:30 PM ET at Scotiabank Arena

Our AI Model believes the Raptors will earn a 116-113 win over the Bucks tonight. With the Raptors sitting at +4.5, there’s value in the Raptors against the spread and on the moneyline.

The Raptors have been surprisingly good on the defensive end this year. Toronto has held teams to 109.1 points per 100 possessions while keeping teams to a 51.9% effective field goal percentage.

The Bucks won’t dominate the offensive glass but will get to the foul line at a high rate. However, Toronto has defensively limited teams to an 18.3 free throw rate, which should keep the Bucks off the foul line at their 24.9 free throw rate.

Milwaukee’s Offensive Challenges

The Bucks have played a couple of games without Damian Lillard. But he should be back in tonight’s game. Yet, the Bucks have still scored at an average rate this season, adding 113.5 points per 100 possessions. That’s why the Bucks are just two games above .500.

On the other hand, the Raptors have not looked good offensively. Toronto won’t get to the foul line at a high rate, but they’ll win some second chances with 28.7% of offensive rebounds.

With the Bucks allowing 117.1 points per 100 possessions, the Raptors have legitimate potential on their home floor against the Bucks. Milwaukee hasn’t played good defense to begin the year.

With Toronto’s defense playing more consistently, I’ll take Toronto at home.

NBA Pick: Raptors +4.5 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook (check our Caesars Sportsbook Review)

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Portland Trail Blazers

Wednesday, November 15, 2023 – 10:00 PM ET at Moda Center

The AI Model suggests the Cavaliers and Blazers will combine for 216 points tonight. With the total at 221, the Under is the most valuable wager in tonight’s game.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are ranked 20th in points per 100 possessions this season, scoring 111.7 points. They’ve also shot an effective field goal percentage of 52.7%, which is 22nd in the NBA.

While Cleveland gets to the foul line at a high rate, the Cavaliers aren’t earning many second chances on the offensive glass. They’re bringing down just 25.4% of offensive rebounds per game this year.

Portland’s Struggles

Meanwhile, Portland’s defense has been about average. The Blazers have held teams to 112.5 points per 100 possessions and have kept teams to a 53.3% effective field goal percentage. Opponents have earned 28.2% of offensive rebounds and typically get to the foul line at an above-average rate against the Blazers.

However, Portland’s offense is the worst in the NBA. They’ve scored a league-low 105.2 points per 100 possessions while shooting an effective field goal percentage of under 50%. Portland has also turned the ball over 16.2% of the time and doesn’t even get to the foul line at a high rate.

The Cavaliers aren’t sensational defensively. But they’ve got the edge, holding teams to 115.1 points per 100 possessions.

I’ll go with the Under 221 in this game. Neither team is very good from the field this season.

NBA Pick: Under 221 (-110) at BetRivers (check our BetRivers Review)
