NFL Picks for Week 6: Oct 9-15

Zach Charbonnet #26 of the Seattle Seahawks celebrates with teammates during a game against the Miami Dolphins

The NFL Week 6 schedule has plenty of good games with Seahawks vs. Jaguars, 49ers vs. Buccaneers, and Lions vs. Chiefs on Sunday night. The Monday night doubleheader is also solid, but we are going to stick with Sunday’s games for our favorite plays at top-rated sportsbooks.

Let’s look at our top expert picks for Week 6 in the NFL.

Rebound of the Favorites in This Week’s NFL Picks

Week 5 was one of the craziest in NFL history as underdogs were 9-5 SU and there were 6 double-digit comeback wins. That’s why we’re expecting Week 6 to be a nice bounce-back week for favorites, assuming this season is not on pace for a record amount of parity and weekly shockers.

But we saw the Rams lose as a heavy favorite at home to the injured 49ers, the Chargers lost for the 2nd week in a row to the Commanders, and the Seahawks lost a 38-35 home shootout with Tampa Bay.

The theme of our Week 6 picks is for those teams to correct things this week and get big road wins.

Chargers vs. Dolphins (+4.5)

We know Jim Harbaugh is an excellent coach, while Mike McDaniel is still trending towards losing his job in Miami after the team blew a 17-point lead in Carolina last week. But even Harbaugh has dropped 2 in a row after the Chargers have been very injured at offensive tackle and running back.

However, the defense has been solid for most of the season when it’s not put into bad field position, and the wide receivers are still great for Justin Herbert. He’ll get to face a Miami defense that is very poor and has been shredded by almost everyone to this point of the season.

They’ll protect Herbert better in Miami, he’ll find more open receivers against that secondary, and the Chargers will force Tua Tagovailoa (without Tyreek Hill) to be one-dimensional and make mistakes as the Dolphins couldn’t run the ball at all last week.

The Chargers end the slide and get the road cover.

Expert Pick: Chargers -4.5 (-105) at BetMGM

Rams vs. Ravens (+7.5)

Even though sportsbooks are still giving the Ravens solid odds to win the AFC North at 1-4, there’s a good chance they are 1-5 after this game, given the spread. The big news is Lamar Jackson (hamstring) is still not expected to return, so the Ravens will have to accept they are 4-11 without him, and it usually doesn’t look good on offense with him out.

The Ravens have the worst defense in the NFL this year, which is certainly new for John Harbaugh, but that is also a product of the incredible injuries they’ve suffered on that side of the ball. The Rams have some incredible receivers like Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, and Matthew Stafford is hot right now.

Sure, you can’t just pencil the Rams in for a win when they already blew it as an 8.5-point home favorite against the 49ers, who were also missing many starters, including their quarterback (Brock Purdy) and best defender (Nick Bosa).

But that was a division game, and Kyle Shanahan has largely owned Sean McVay. This is different. This is Baltimore in disarray, and the Rams have the talent on both sides of the ball to beat Cooper Rush and that defense by more than 7.5 points.

Expert Pick: Rams -7.5 (-110) at BetMGM

Seahawks vs. Jaguars (-1)

This line could be a pick ‘em before kickoff. It’s a long trip for an early game in Florida for the Seahawks, but consider the Jaguars had to play late into Monday night in an emotional comeback win over the Chiefs. They could be a little drained and sluggish, too, to start this game.

The Seahawks were shredded by Baker Mayfield, but Sam Darnold was also shredding the Tampa defense and is playing very well. He’s playing better than Trevor Lawrence, who is still hard to trust and makes a lot of awkward plays, like his interception or throwing the ball past the line on Monday night. That’s to say nothing of the way he stumbled into a game-winning touchdown against the Chiefs.

The Jaguars are improved, but we’re going to back the Seahawks and Mike Macdonald’s defense to get the best of them in this one.

Expert Pick: Seahawks +1 (-110) at BetMGM
