Tanner Houck is expected to man the mound for the Red Sox tonight. His first start was a gem for Boston after he went six innings and struck out ten batters.
While that start was against Oakland, it was still tremendous. Houck struck out nearly 48% of batters and earned more than 81% of grounders in the win.
While the Angels have started the season stronger, dating back to last season, the projected lineup has hit a .297 wOBA against righties. The lineup has also struck out 29% of the time using last year’s and this year’s stats.
Houck should have another big game ahead of him.
Los Angeles Angels
On the other hand, it’ll be Chase Silseth of the Angels. Silseth allowed a .365 wOBA to 18 batters in his first start. He allowed 50% of line drives and only induced 30% of ground balls.
He was great at earning strikeouts against righties, but he struggled against lefties, giving up 20% of walks.
