Is Maverick Ready to Fly Top Gun?
Yes, we think it is time for Maverick McNealy to finally fly Top Gun and arrive back in the limelight of the PGA Tour. Coming back from injury-affected 2023, 2024 has been a year of consolidation for the twenty-eight-year-old Californian.
All things considered, it has been a very successful under-the-radar comeback.
McNealy’s chances will also be underrated this week given he has been unable to play for two weeks on the PGA Tour since he missed out on making the fields for the U.S. Open or last week’s Signature Travelers.
He was 7th at the Canadian Open, so it probably has been hugely disappointing to miss those events due to a poor ranking system within the PGA Tour these days that prejudices the lower ranked far too much. Nevertheless, it could be a blessing in disguise for McNealy and punters, as it keeps McNealy fresh for this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. His price has been intact for a week, which tells us that he holds a very solid chance given his previous two Top 20 finishes here.
We are trusting Maverick McNealy for another Top 20 finish this week, while also adding a modest investment that he will be the winner and fly Top Gun on the PGA Tour.

Why Troy Merritt Has a Strong Look This Week?
Given his course form has an exceptional look, Troy Merritt has a rather interesting profile and strong look in the props markets at this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. That form has seen four successive top 20 finishes in the event, with the highlight being when he was runner-up to Cam Davis in a sudden death play-off for the 2021 title.
Can Troy Merritt Make It Five in a Row?
We believe there is every chance that the thirty-eight-year-old journeyman can make it to five top 20s in succession. More importantly, we have the correct price to bet at Bet365, which quotes Merritt as a (+500) for a fifth Top 20 in succession.
Having the correct price is hugely important to be a profitable bettor, and on season form, this price applies more to Merritt’s event form. Encouragingly, the Iowa native has shown glimpses of better results in recent weeks, highlighted by a Top 10 finish at the C.J. Cup Byron Nelson.
