We have an exciting Monday night NBA slate with many spots to target. Using OddsTrader’s computer picks, we can find out in which games the algorithm has found the biggest edges.
The computer picks are designed to give us a baseline expectation of what’s most likely to happen, so we can find the games on the NBA odds board that have the highest potential profit margin, and hammer them with appropriately sized bets.
Those margins are still pretty small: Even a 5-star “deadbolt lock” is going to be a 60/40 flip at best. It’s anything but rare to end up 0-3 (or 3-0) when you make three NBA picks; more often, you’ll go 2-1 or 1-2. Let’s see which of these 3 advantage spots our money falls into tonight.
Pick Summary
Pacers vs. Hornets: Under 234 (-110) at Caesars
Mavericks vs. Grizzlies: Grizzlies -2 (-110) at Caesars
Kings vs. Jazz: Over 240 (-110) at Caesars
Indiana Pacers vs. Charlotte Hornets
Monday, March 20, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at Spectrum Center
Two teams that are no longer in playoff contention will take the court tonight when the Indiana Pacers visit Charlotte to take on the Hornets. Both teams know they are eliminated from the playoffs so they are trying to get better and develop young players for next season. Player development can be exciting for the team’s fans, but sometimes these mistakes by the young players will lead to lower scores.
Both teams are coming off tough losses to the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers defeated Charlotte 121-82 on Friday night and then they defeated the Pacers 141-121 on Saturday night. This game represents an opportunity for both teams to get back on track.
Why Did the Books Post This Total So High?
The OddsTrader A.I. generated model has the final score of the game projected at 116-115 in favor of the Indiana Pacers. The Hornets are coming off a season-low 82-point performance. Player development is great but it does lead to inefficient offense. This does bode well for the under, however, which is posted at 234. The computer has found a nice 3-point edge for us to bet.
NBA Pick: Under 234 (-110) at Caesars
Dallas Mavericks vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Monday, March 20, 2023 – 08:00 PM EDT at FedEx Forum
In spite of the controversy swirling around their team, the Memphis Grizzlies have been playing well as of late. The Grizzlies have won two straight and have won five of their last six games. They will look to continue this spate of recent strong play when they host the Dallas Mavericks tonight. Memphis has an opportunity to move back into sole possession of the second place in the Western Conference standings. The Grizzlies are currently tied with the Sacramento Kings for second place in the West.
Luka Doncic has missed the last four games for the Dallas Mavericks but he might return to the lineup tonight. The Mavericks have won two games in a row after a three-pointer at the buzzer by Maxi Kleber helped Dallas win 111-110 over the Los Angeles Lakers. In that game, Kyrie Irving returned from an injury and scored 38 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists.
Who Will Win This Pivotal Game?
The Memphis Grizzlies are favored in tonight’s game. Our OddsTrader A.I. prediction has the final score of this game at 116-111 in favor of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are 2-1 against the Mavericks this season and playing at home, where they are 29-5 this year. Obviously, this projection does bode well for betting on the Grizzlies.
Our second A.I. pick has a 3-point edge. That is the type of edge we are looking for when running NBA models. With the Grizzlies being 2-point favorites, we have an edge when betting on the Grizzlies tonight.

Sacramento Kings vs. Utah Jazz
Monday, March 20, 2023 – 09:00 PM EDT at Vivint Arena
The Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz will play each other twice in a 5-day period this week. The Jazz and Kings have played two exciting games against each other this season. The Kings won 126-125 at home on December 30th and then followed that up with that 117-115 win in Utah.
The Kings will look to continue their success against Utah in Salt Lake City tonight. The Kings are 43-27 this season and the Jazz are 34-36. The Kings are tied for second place in the Western Conference while the Jazz are trying to make a push for the Play-In tournament.
Why Did the Books Post This Total So High?
The Kings are the highest-scoring team in the league averaging 121.1 points per game. The Jazz are the sixth-highest-scoring team in the league averaging 117.2 points per game. These teams both know how to put up points as indicated by the high scores in their two previous meetings.
Our computer algorithm has projected the final score of this game to be 124-120 in favor of the Sacramento Kings. With the total being set at 240, we have a 4-point edge on betting the over.
NBA Pick: Over 240 (-110) at Caesars
