Week 9 NCAA College Football Computer Picks: Air Force Aiming for Unblemished Record

  • College Football
  • Football

There are many great spots in week 9’s college football slate. Here are three bets that the AI Model wants us to consider.

Picks Summary

USC Trojans vs. California Bears

Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 04:00 PM EDT at California Memorial Stadium

Our AI Model believes USC and California will combine for 89 points. With the total sitting at 67.5, there’s clear value on the Over between these two Pac-12 teams.

The USC Trojans have lost two straight games, including a loss to Notre Dame and Utah. Those are tough losses, but USC really doesn’t look like they belong defensively. The defense watched Notre Dame score 48 and allowed Utah to score 34.

Defensive Vulnerabilities

Meanwhile, the Notre Dame offense had been struggling up to that point, and Utah’s offense doesn’t even have two of their best players, who are injured and out for the season.

The Trojans have allowed 407.6 yards per game this season and have given up 244 points in eight games this season. With California averaging over 407.4 yards per game, the Bears should dominate offensively, just like all of the other teams.

USC’s Potent Offense

On the other hand, you can never count out Caleb Williams and the USC offense. While the defense has allowed 244 points, the offense has earned 363 points in eight games. They’ve also averaged over 400 yards and are closer to 500 yards on offense per game.

Let’s ride the Over.

NCAAF Pick: Over 67.5 (-110) at BetRivers

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Kentucky Wildcats

Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at Kroger Field

Our AI Model believes Tennessee will earn a 32-24 win over Kentucky on Saturday. With the Volunteers sitting at -3, there’s certainly value in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Volunteers fell apart against Alabama last time out, losing 34-20 on the road. But before that loss to Alabama, Tennessee won three straight, including wins against South Carolina and Texas A&M.

The Vols haven’t had the offense they had last year with Joe Milton under center. But he’s still thrown 12 passing touchdowns, to just four interceptions. His QBR is middle of the pact, adding 1,535 yards in the air.

Tennessee’s offense has still earned 438.1 yards per game.

They’ll take on a Kentucky defense that has given up 346.6 yards per game. The secondary has been good, and the run defense has held teams to 95.7 points. But Milton should have time in the pocket to make plays down the field. If you give his arm time to throw, he’ll be fine.

Kentucky’s Offensive Struggles

On the other hand, Kentucky’s Devin Leary has thrown for 1,377 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The transfer quarterback only has a 51.1 QBR, which is 90th in college football.

Kentucky was expecting better out of the former North Carolina State star.

The Wildcats will want to run the football more often with Ray Davis, who has eight touchdowns on 111 carries this season. But Tennesssee has allowed just 109.9 yards per game on the ground this year.

The Volunteers match up much better. Take Tennessee and follow the AI Model.

NCAAF Pick: Tennessee -3 (-110) at UniBet

Air Force Falcons vs. Colorado State Rams

Saturday, October 28, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at Canvas Stadium

The AI Model suggests Air Force will continue its undefeated streak against Colorado State, with a 41-16 win. Air Force is just -11 against the spread. Therefore, taking the Falcons against the spread is the play.

The Air Force Falcons are 7-0 to start the season. They just knocked off Navy, 17-6, and scored at least 34 points in four of their last five games.

In Air Force’s most recent win, analysts and experts were unsure if quarterback Zac Larrier would play due to an injury. But he played for Air Force, totaling 151 yards passing on four completions. He also added 24 yards on 15 carries, which wasn’t very good.

However, Emmanuel Michael, the leading rusher, has eight touchdowns this year. He’s averaged 4.2 yards per carry and has been electric behind an awesome offensive line in the run game.

Air Force’s Run Game Advantage

Air Force will face Colorado State’s defense, which has allowed 466.7 yards per game. If anything, Colorado State’s defense is better in the secondary They’ve allowed 158.7 yards per game on the ground.

The Falcons will want to run the ball right through Colorado State and should be able to get the angles to do that.

On the other hand, the Air Force has allowed just 223.4 yards per game on defense. Teams have earned just 154.3 yards per game in the air and another 69.1 yards per game on the ground. The Falcons are terrific at tackling and dominant everywhere else.

Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi has thrown for 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. These turnovers can’t happen against a team like Air Force.

But they still will.

Take the Air Force to earn the double-digit win.

NCAAF Pick: Air Force -11 (-110) at BetRivers
