  • Patrick Cantlay – Outright Win (+2200) at Bet365
  • Patrick Cantlay – To Finish in Top 10 (+240) at Bet365
  • Tony Finau – Outright Win (+2500) at Unibet
  • Tony Finau – To Finish in Top 10 (+250) at Bet365

  • Rickie Fowler – Without Scheffler, Rahm & McIlroy (+6000) at Bet365

The 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill is a great major championship to bet on here at Oddstrader as the best players in the world congregate at this par 70, just under 7400-yard track in New York.

With springtime just underway, the course is expected to play its full length in the coming days at this Donald Ross design recently renovated by Andrew Green. The renovation removed over 600 trees and added length to the Oak Hill track as well as re-contouring the Bentgrass greens, all with the perspective of renewing the track to the original Donald Ross style.

Precipitation in the area has been reasonably high in the lead-up and there is rain and very cold temperatures forecast for Sunday with each day starting cold and warming up.

What Style of Player Are Perfectly Suited to Oak Hill?

With the added yardage and course playing long in the cold conditions, we want players who can hit it long and keep the ball on the fairways. Missing the fairways will make approach play difficult from the rough, let alone some tough bunkering surrounding the Bentgrass greens.

Top Golf Selection – Patrick Cantlay

This week’s PGA Championship looks like the perfect opportunity for Patrick Cantlay to land his first major championship. The added length to Oak Hill will play into Cantlay’s main strength of total driving, a category he lays in 2nd during the current PGA Tour season.

The 31-year-old Californian’s other consistent strength is his superb putting, which will be aided further this week with his preferred green type of pure Bentgrass. Cantlay has a 50% strike rate for top 10 finishes this season after 12 events.

Patrick Cantlay at the odds of +2200 combined with a top 10 finish at +200 has a strong look at this week’s PGA Championship.

Golf Pick: Patrick Cantlay – Outright Win (+2200) at Bet365

Golf Pick: Patrick Cantlay – To Finish in Top 10 (+240) at Bet365

Next Best Golf Selection – Tony Finau

The next selection for the PGA Championship is Tony Finau who won the Mexico Open on his penultimate start.

Finally, over the last two seasons, Tony Finau has started to fulfill his huge potential by winning PGA Tour events. By the last week of August of 2021, the Salt Lake City guy had only won one PGA event, back in 2016. Fast forward to now and his tally stands at six and the 33-year-old family man has a great chance to add a first major championship this week.

Finau has the tools needed to bring courses like Oak Hill into his comfort zone unlike others as his inherent natural length and consistency sets him apart.

Take “Big Tone” in the outright win.

Golf Pick: Tony Finau – To Finish in Top 10 (+240) at Bet365

Sleeper Golf Selection – Rickie Fowler

My PGA Championship sleeper selection is Rickie Fowler who has some course experience from back in 2013 here. On that occasion, Fowler finished in the top 20, something he has been doing an awful lot in recent months with his consistency and growth in his game since his swing changes during the off-season.

The 34-year-old Californian has only been outside the top 20 in two of his ten PGA Tour outings of 2020, suggesting a win is just around the corner.

What we like about Fowler is his ability to play well in bad weather conditions as he showed in the fall at the Zoso Championship in Japan when coming runner up in the pouring rain to Keegan Bradley.

Winning the PGA Championship could be a step too far currently for Fowler, but Bet365 has markets without the favorites to use so what we suggest is a small each-way bet on Rickie Fowler at +6000 with Bet365 in their – Without, Scheffler, Rahm, and McIlroy market.

This bet works well when combined with Bet365 top 20 market which has Fowler at +300.

Golf Pick: Rickie Fowler – To Finish in the Top 20 (+300) at Bet365

Golf Pick: Rickie Fowler – Without Scheffler, Rahm & McIlroy (+6000) at Bet365
