The Sunday night game is a different breed of cat than the rest. If we are having a good day, we will either pack it in or put a few bucks on the Sunday night game just to have something to watch. However, if we got cleaned, well, now Sunday night is looking like that magnificent port in the middle of a hellacious storm.
But in the sober light of day, and one in which we aren’t pining for a winner to mitigate the sting of a financially disastrous day of football, we know that manufacturing an opinion just to get even is about the worst thing we can do. So, the long and short of this is to view the Sunday Night Football game as you would any other. If you like a side or the total then bet it but don’t stack the units hot and heavy just to unscrew yourself from your earlier mistakes. SNF Betting Strategies
- Check the Injury Reports – This is basic advice that a seasoned sports bettor would follow on a regular basis, regardless of time, date, or venue. But it is the single most critical factor when betting NFL football because a late scratch at a skill position can be the difference between covering and losing. - Longer Prep Time – Sunday night gives the coaching staff more time to strategize and we normally find that the better coaches thrive when having extra time to prepare. We have seen it countless times so take that into consideration when perusing the NFL odds for Sunday night games.
- Dogs Howled on SNF in 2020 – After reviewing the SNF 2020 slate of games, we found that 10 of 17 underdogs cashed while the home team went 10-7. It was a good time to bet home underdogs except perhaps against the truly elite teams.
- TNF to SNF – Although it is not common, if you can find an opportunity where a team playing on Thursday night the previous week gets the Sunday night game the following week, bet them. That’s right, they have had more time to prepare than anyone else except those on a bye week and the results are favorable whether home, away, underdog or favorite.
