BetMGM and NHL Extend Partnership Agreement

It was recently announced that BetMGM and the NHL will renew their partnership in a multi-year pact that will allow the sports betting and iGaming operator giant a variety of marketing platforms and brand awareness within the NHL’s nationally televised broadcasts in the United States.

BetMGM Scores With the NHL

The iconic gaming brand, BetMGM, recently signed a multi-year deal with the National Hockey League that continues its association as the Official Sports Betting and Gaming Partner of the NHL. BetMGM signage will be visible in the NHL’s marquee regular season games and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Jason Jazayeri, NHL Vice President of Business Development, announced, “We are thrilled about our partnership extension with BetMGM. The evolution of our partnership with BetMGM will focus on building unique and compelling fan experiences, as well as event activation and media programming all with an eye towards delivering exciting new ways for our fans to interact and engage with the sport they love.”

The deal allows BetMGM to use NHL imagery to design league and team-branded casino games while its brand will be used in Digitally Enhanced Dasherboards and virtual slot-in ice surface advertising.

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt remarked, “Our partnership extension with the NHL enables us to enhance the BetMGM product and offer fans unforgettable entertainment built around the game they love.”

“The NHL is more thrilling than ever – a symphony of athleticism, teamwork, and skill on skates. We look forward to bringing our customers exceptional live experiences and new content,” Greenblatt added.

Have a Game Plan

BetMGM and the NHL are both official members of the American Gaming Association’s Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. public service campaign to educate the public about responsible gambling.

The campaign outlines four critical factors in responsible gaming:

  • Set a budget and stick to it.
  • Keep it social—sports betting is a form of entertainment for adults.
  • Know the odds.
  • Play with legal, regulated operators.

BetMGM and MGM Resorts International became an official partner of the AGA and the campaign in 2021.

Richard Taylor, BetMGM’s Responsible Gambling Program Manager, said at the time of the announcement, “We are proud to become a partner of such an important initiative for the industry. Through GameSense, we are committed to doing our part in creating a fun and safe experience for customers.”

GameSense was developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and licensed to MGM Resorts to promulgate positive communication with its customers as to responsible gambling practices.

MGM’s Commitment

Garrett Farnes, Responsible Gaming Compliance Manager, at MGM Resorts, said: “This partnership complements our ongoing commitment to GameSense. GameSense has been an instrumental part of the MGM Resorts guest service model since 2017, helping customers understand the risks, where to get help, and ultimately, how to keep gaming fun.”

The National Hockey League has been a member of the campaign with the AGA since 2020 and NHL Chief Business Officer Keith Wachtel said in a statement, “The fan experience remains one of our highest priorities, as more hockey fans than ever have the opportunity to legally and responsibly bet in their home states.

“Ensuring that our passionate fans know how to participate in this exciting new opportunity is important, and we’re thrilled to be working with the AGA to share the responsibility in this worthy education.”
