The Renaissance course on the North Berwick coast has become the annual home for the co-sanctioned PGA/DP event over the past five seasons.
A course designed by Tom Doak and comprising of two halves, with the opening nine through parklands followed by an exposed faux links for the second nine. It is a cracking test of skill and the perfect tune-up to next week’s Open Championship over in Northern Ireland.
Will the PGA Tour Finally Get to Know Matteo?
In a sport that makes the best storylines, Matteo Manassero’s career has a story to tell like no other, and he is still only thirty-two years old.
At the age of twenty, Manassero went from precocious teenager to the youngest winner of the DP World Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship. What then followed was a wicked slump of form and confidence that saw him fall to #1202 in the world at the end of 2019.
There was no sulking for the popular Italian, as he grinded his way through the minor tours and, step by step, made his way back through the ranks and up the ladder.
On regaining his DP World Tour card for 2024, Manassero wasted no time in getting back in the winner’s circle in South Africa, along with taking one of the 10 PGA Tour cards on offer for the top 10 over the season.
From Struggles to Spark
Moving across the Atlantic has been much tougher going, but week by week, Manassero seems to be getting to grips with life in America and currently stands 127th in the world and 130th in the FedEx Cup.
Returning for the British Swing of the season after his best PGA Tour performance of the year — a 6th-place finish at the RBC Canadian Open — Manassero has the perfect opportunity for another strong week, especially given how well he played here last year when he was in contention throughout the event.

Trust Grant to Know the Forests of Scotland
Scotland’s Grant Forrest is always worth a second glance when the PGA Tour reaches its Great Britain swing, particularly as the Renaissance is his home track.
That local knowledge has already come in very handy for the thirty-two-year-old in the past with two Top 20 finishes. Historically, the Scottish Open is a much higher quality event than normal DP World Tour ones.
Just two years ago, Forrest finished 11th — the third-best result of his career. Interestingly, two of his three best finishes have come on home soil in Scotland, including his lone DP World Tour win at the 2021 Hero Open, held on the west coast at the Fairmont St. Andrews.
2025 has been rather a lacklustre year to date for Forrest, but with his only two top 20 finishes of the season coming in his last five events, there looks to be a little daylight at the end of the tunnel.
