Tanner Houck has earned 26.7% of strikeouts over the last month. That’s way above his season average of 22.6%.
Houck’s numbers are trending upwards. He’s allowed 8.1% of walks and has held righties to a .056 ISO and wOBA of .308.
The Yankees’ projected lineup against righties has struck out 25.3% of the time in the last month. This lineup has seven batters striking out at least 22.7% of the time and five batters striking out at least 29% of the time.
Houck has a lot of potential in the strikeout category tonight. New York has also combined to hit a .276 wOBA against righties in the last month with this lineup and has walked just 5.1% of the time.

Patrick Sandoval hasn’t earned a high rate of strikeouts. But he’ll likely get plenty in tonight’s game against the Royals.
Kansas City has struck out 29% of the time against lefties using their projected lineup in the last month.
The Royals have seven batters striking out at least 24.2% of the time and five batters striking out at least 29.4% of the time.
Although Sandoval has also earned 14.3% of strikeouts in the last month, his strikeout numbers should increase after tonight’s game.
Limiting Damage
Sandoval has also limited teams to a .092 ISO and wOBA of .332. He’s held teams to 14.7% of fly balls and has earned 48% of ground balls. When balls are put in play, Sandoval does an excellent job of limiting damage.
The Royals lineup has hit a .123 ISO and wOBA of .305 and has walked only 4.3% of the time against lefties over the last month.
Meanwhile, The Angels are hitting a .161 ISO against righties and will face Brady Singer. Singer has been dreadful all season, allowing an ISO of .215 and wOBA of .371 over the last month.
The Angels will have at least four lefties in the lineup, including Shohei Ohtani, who has been red hot at the plate.
The Pick
The Royals likely won’t get any offense in tonight’s game, but the Angels should be able to tact on runs against Singer, who has a 6.58 ERA on the season.
The Angels are -150 on the moneyline. But we can get plus-money with the Angels winning if Sandoval gets the win. He will likely go deep in tonight’s game, with the Royals struggling against lefties recently.
