Our AI Model thinks the Blue Jays will tie the Tigers, 4.1-4.1. However, the Blue Jays are +166 on the moneyline. Even with Tarik Skubal on the mound, for the Tigers, Toronto is the play.

The Tigers have penciled in Tarik Skubal for tonight. The former AL Cy Young and All-Star Game starter has been electric this year. But he’s coming back from paternity leave and might not be up to par in his next start.
He’ll duel against Kevin Gausman, who has limited his last 129 batters to a .122 ISO and wOBA of .277. Gausman isn’t getting a high amount of strikeouts, but he’s limited bad contact and has added 25.6% of whiffs with 13% of swinging strikes.

The AI Model suggests the Diamondbacks will destroy the Pirates, 6.3-3.3. Therefore, forget the moneyline. Let’s take the Diamondbacks at -1.5 (+126). You can even get greedy and try the Diamondbacks at -2.5 for an even bigger value play.
Could This Be Kelly’s Final Start With Arizona?
Merrill Kelly is scheduled to take the hill tonight. The righty could be auditioning for many other teams tonight. After all, the Diamondbacks are looking to sell and get many assets for the future before the MLB Trade Deadline.
Ultimately, Kelly has limited his last 115 batters to a .277 wOBA. He’s given up a high ISO to lefties but has been great against righties. He’s also going to face a Pirates lineup that has combined for just a .121 ISO and 6.4% of walks. Pittsburgh couldn’t even score a single run last night, despite having guys in scoring position in extra innings.
On the other hand, Andrew Heaney will start for the Pirates. The veteran lefty has allowed a .348 ISO and wOBA of .445 to his last 72 batters faced. The Diamondbacks haven’t been the best offense, especially with Josh Naylor out of there. But they’ll put the ball in play and make things happen. The lineup has struck out just 17% of the time against lefties over the last 30 days.

Atlanta Braves vs. Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are set to throw Kumar Rocker for tonight’s game. The right-hander has allowed a .417 ISO and wOBA of .404 to his last 41 righties, as a right-handed pitcher. He’s also allowed 33.3% of fly balls and has earned just 22% of strikeouts against righties.
Tonight, he’ll battle righties like Ronald Acuna Jr., Austin Riley, and Sean Murphy. All three of these batters have added an ISO of at least .300 against a wOBA of at least .352 against righties over the last month.
On the other hand, Grant Holmes will give it a go for the Braves. Holmes has held his last 59 righties to a .061 ISO and wOBA of .305, and will face a lineup that has four righties who have hit a collective .140 ISO against righties over the last month. That should help Holmes get through the Texas lineup.
