Using the OddsTrader BetStation, we were able to place tonight’s NHL picks based on the information generated.
Despite the New York Rangers currently riding a 6-0 winning streak, our computer believes they will be up against it tonight in the late puck drop which sees them travel to Edmonton where they face a team currently looking to break their 0-2 losing streak.

New York Rangers
Since the trade for Vladimir Tarasenko, the New York Rangers seem to be almost unstoppable having gone on this six-game winning streak.
Despite the Rangers having some solid forward players already, they needed a player who was prepared to drive the play forward and not just hope for it to fall into place. Tarasenko brings that to the team.
Winning six games in a row still leaves the NY Rangers lingering down in 6th place in the Eastern Conference. They should be safe to make the playoffs this season but one does wonder how much trouble they could be in without this current winning streak.
The Edmonton Oilers have it easy in the Western Conference compared to their opponents. The Oilers sit in 6th position but find themselves only 5 points away from the top of the Conference. They could be almost top now had they won their previous two outings.
We all know the strength of this Oilers team offensively with Connor McDavid having his best year to date and Leon Draisaitl not far behind having had 80 points. McDavid is just one point shy of hitting 100 after scoring 7 points in his previous five games.
It’s the defense we most worry about as they allow 3.2 goals per game with the 17th-best ranked expected goals against. Surprisingly, their goaltenders Stuart Skinner and Jack Campbell have looked much better than their form suggests, and since the start of 2023, Campbell has started to play much better with a 90.09 save rate.
Stats and Trends
New York Rangers
- The total has gone over in 5 of the NY Rangers’ last 5 games.
- The total has gone over in 4 of the NY Rangers’ last 5 games against an opponent in the Western Conference.

- The total has gone over in 5 of Edmonton’s last 6 games.

Although the NY Rangers have been on fire in recent weeks, they have allowed 17 goals across their 6-0 run, which is an average of 2.9 goals per game. As we know, Edmonton has the best attack in the league and is now averaging 3.73 goals per game as well as having the best power play by far, hitting at 31.3%.
The Oilers are clearly favored here because of the home-ice advantage. Had this been in New York, we believe the NHL odds would be the other way around.
Our computer is predicting an Oilers 3-2 victory and based on this information, we are happy to bet the Oilers to win this on the moneyline at -125.
The previous two meetings between these teams at Rogers Place have been humdingers with the Oilers winning both in high-scoring affairs 6-5 and 7-5. The Rangers might be red hot right now but facing the best offense on home ice with a chip on their shoulders having gone 0-2 in games they should have won won’t be easy.
Final Score Prediction: Edmonton Oilers 3 – New York Rangers 2
