The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is just around the corner, and that means one thing, it’s time to start making some predictions . OddsTrader takes a look at some of the most profitable matchups for the group stage. Bettors should check the World Cup injuries report before placing bets.

Here are our top 5 match odds and betting picks for the group stage of Qatar 2022.

World Cup Group A – Matchday 3

Netherlands vs. Qatar

Tuesday, November 29, 2022 – 10:00 AM EST

  • Netherlands Win to Nil (+110) at Bet365

The winner of Group A will likely be decided on Matchday 1 when the Netherlands collides with Senegal. However, following an abysmal domestic season for Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly, the Senegalese threat has lowered, and the Dutch squad undoubtedly has a presence in the final third to slide through in the top position of Group A.

The most straightforward three points for Louis van Gaal’s men will be their final group stage fixture against the World Cup hosts Qatar. There’s a high probability that Qatar wouldn’t appear in the competition without their automatic qualification, as they don’t hold much threat in any area of the pitch.

Qatar will struggle to maintain possession during their meeting with Netherlands, let alone score a goal. For this reason, backing the Netherlands to win to nil at plus-money is an outstanding World Cup 2022 betting choice.

World Cup Group B – Matchday 2

England vs. USA

Friday, November 25, 2022 – 02:00 PM EST

  • England Moneyline (-155) at Bet365

England will enter Qatar with the most expensive squad (based on club value) by at least $300 million and one of the favorites to win the FIFA World Cup. When you first glance at their roster, you’ll realize why. The elite-level talent on this English squad is unmatched in Group B. Although they delivered an underwhelming performance at the recent Nations League competition, we know how well the Three Lions perform during major tournaments.

The semi-finalist of the 2018 World and the finalists of the Euro 2020 competition will outclass the American squad on Matchday 2. As the United States squad presents unknowns, the bookmakers have given us a reasonable price on Gareth Southgate’s squad to walk away from this clash with three points.

The USA boasts the youngest and least experienced team in Qatar, and although speed and agility are present, the top-tier talent is lacking for the most part.

The England moneyline to defeat the USMNT holds significant value, and I expect Wales to be a more formidable challenge when everything is said and done.

World Cup Group C – Matchday 3

Argentina vs. Saudi Arabia

Tuesday, November 22, 2022 – 05:00 AM EST

  • Argentina Half-Time/Full-Time (-160) at BetMGM

Argentina will wrap up their group stage tenure by Matchday 2 when breezing past Saudi Arabia to put six points on the board, as Mexico and Poland will scrap it out for a second-place finish.

Lionel Messi’s final World Cup appearance is expected to be memorable. He’s finally found his form domestically at Paris Saint-Germain and has notably kept up with his PSG teammates Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on the goalscoring charts.

Saudi Arabia will be lucky to gain 30-40% during their Matchday 2 encounter with Argentina and, despite the juiced moneyline price of the Argentines, we can find excellent value by backing them to be winning at half-time and full-time.

World Cup Group D – Matchday 3

Australia vs. Denmark

Wednesday, November 30, 2022 – 10:00 AM EST

  • Denmark Moneyline (-175) at Bet365

Excuse me, -175 on Denmark to defeat Australia? Has there been a glitch on the Bet365 website? I’m not sure what the oddsmakers were thinking when giving this line, but Denmark is one of the tournament underdogs that could easily reach the quarter or semi-final stage of the 2022 World Cup.

The Danes defeated France two times during the Nations League competition, while the Aussies were lucky to make it through the World Cup qualification stages.

I can’t envision any other result outside of head coach Kasper Hjulmand leading Christian Eriksen & Co. to an easy victory over the group’s most basic squad. And for -175, it’s a piece of betting value that mustn’t be ignored.

World Cup Group E – Matchday 3 Best Bet

Costa Rica vs. Germany

Thursday, December 01, 02:00 PM EST

  • Germany to Score in Both Halves (-110) at FanDuel

By the time Matchday 3 arrives for the Costa Rican squad, they’ll likely have already fumbled the opportunity to qualify as Germany and Spain battle for the Group E top spot. It’s possible the team with a more significant goal difference could determine the group winner. This is where Costa Rica will fall victim to Hansi Flick and the newly reformed German squad he’s been slowly building.

As with most of the top European teams, moneyline odds aren’t pretty. That said, we can grab Germany to score a goal in both halves versus Costa Rica at close to plus money. This wager’s winning potential is almost guaranteed if the aforementioned goal-difference situation arises.
