Top Guns in the 2023 NFL Draft

Below is a partial list of the odds from one of the most well-respected sportsbooks in the world, Bet365, and Bryce Young, a quarterback from the University of Alabama, is the only one in which bettors must risk more than they will receive in return due to him being the consensus favorite to be selected No. 1.

For those unfamiliar with how to bet on an NFL future, the moneyline odds below indicate the return on a $100 investment. Any player with a minus sign to the right of the number means the bettor must risk that amount in order to win $100.

As an example, to win $100 on Bryce Young if he is selected first overall one must bet $200 and if Young is selected first overall one will receive $100 plus the return of the initial bet of $200 for a total of $300.

All of the other players have plus signs before the number which means the bettor would risk $100 to win that amount. As an example, a $100 bet on Ohio State quarterback, CJ Stroud, would win $350 plus the return of the initial bet for a total of $450.

What are the Experts Saying?

In the unlikely event that the Bears remain at No. 1 then chances are the top quarterbacks in the draft, like Bryce Young, will not be selected leaving all of those who bet on one of the top four with losing wagers. Chicago is reportedly content with their No. 11 pick in the 2021 draft, quarterback Justin Fields, as the man under center for the foreseeable future.

However, should the Bears decide to trade out of the top spot and move down a few notches then the team with whom they traded will likely opt for one of the talented passers at the position. This is the most likely scenario but it might not happen until draft day, but keep your eyes peeled on Chicago moving forward.

Bryce Young did not attend the NFL Scouting Combine, a four-day invitation-only event where the top college players in the draft try out in front of a legion of NFL scouts. The reason is that Young is so firmly entrenched at the top of the draft that a bad day could only hurt him while a good day would do nothing more than cement him as the No. 1 selection.

Players who enhanced their chances to move up in the draft as a result of fine Combine performances were quarterbacks Anthony Richardson of Florida and Will Levis of Kentucky to name a few. Those players saw their NFL Draft odds shortened at many of the top sportsbooks as they are now considered a better bet to get drafted No. 1.
