The experts say the Southeastern Conference is the toughest in all of college football, and although you might get a difference of opinion from Big Ten fans, the SEC has always been the home of the best football programs in the nation. Below, we are going to reveal the SEC Championship odds and focus on the three teams that are likely to contend for the crown.

SEC Teams to Watch

Texas (+280)

I know, Texas already lost to Ohio State, and in that game, Arch Manning did not appear to have been descended from NFL royalty. But let’s face it, making your first college start against the defending national champions in hostile territory is not exactly a walk in the proverbial park.

Arch Manning, along with the entire Longhorns’ offense, rightfully had the jitters. And although they lost the game, it was far from a blowout, as Texas suffered a 14-7 setback to the Buckeyes, and many believed their season was suddenly lost.

Well, not so fast. They dispatched San Jose State with relative ease, although they failed to cover the 36-point impost, but the oddsmakers at some of the best online sportsbooks like BetMGM are still making them one of the favorites to win the vaunted SEC. I understand why, because once this team gets its mojo going, a conference crown and national championship could very well be theirs for the taking.

LSU (+550)

For those who wonder why Georgia is not on this list, allow me to point out their lackluster effort against FCS opponent Austin Peay, in which the Dawgs were installed as 47-point favorites, only to stumble to a 28-6 victory. One game does not a season make, I get it, but they don’t have that championship timber about them, and considering they have short odds, that will be a hard pass for me.

Now, LSU is a different story. The LSU Tigers defeated the Tigers from Clemson in Clemson’s version of Death Valley. This Clemson team is no joke, and for LSU to come out of hostile territory against the No. 4 team in the nation with a 17-10 win as 5-point road dogs has me convinced this squad has what it takes to make noise in the SEC.

Alabama (+725)

In case you didn’t know it, Alabama football is religion in Tuscaloosa, and if new head coach Kalen DeBoer has a repeat performance of his 31-17 loss to Florida State as 14-point road chalk in the season opener, you’re very likely to see a crucifixion.

I mean, if you have the stones to be the next man up after a living legend like Nick Saban calls it quits, then you’d better have a plan and be paid oodles of dough. Because, in case you didn’t know it, any loss, especially to a big underdog like the Seminoles, will have you and your brood persona non grata at everywhere from the local 7-Eleven to the bougie bistros frequented by high society.

Well, they lost, but let’s just say they atoned for their sin, at least somewhat, in a 73-0 destruction of UL Monroe. Yes, I am aware that the Warhawks hail from the unheralded Sun Belt Conference, but it’s still an FBS club, and I am willing to give Alabama another chance to prove they are worthy of their preseason hype.

How to Place a Bet or Open a Sportsbook Account

The SEC Championship odds I posted today and my SEC best bets to win the conference, like Texas, LSU, and Alabama, with their corresponding odds, don’t stay stagnant forever. Moneylines, point spreads, totals, and yes, conference odds are dynamic, which means the lines you see here may not be around by gametime.

This means it is important that you get the sharpest line available, and the only way to do that is to get down immediately on the games and make sure you have an active account.

That’s right, make certain your account is funded, and perhaps get accounts at two or more sportsbooks so you can compare the numbers. Make sure to get down at a place you trust and at the best lines or odds available.
