With nine games on Tuesday’s slate, we have plenty of NHL betting markets and lines to gather our best bets at top online sportsbooks.

Although many people love to bet an Over, we are eyeing up two games worth targeting the Under as well as one of the NHL’s highest shot takers to go Over his shot total tonight on the road.

Picks Summary

  • Canadiens-Wild Under 6.5 Goals (-125)
  • Kyle Connor Over 3.5 Shots (-120)
  • Stars-Golden Knights Under 6 Goals (-115)

Minnesota Wild vs. Montreal Canadiens

Tuesday, October 17, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at Bell Centre

Betting Trends

  • Minnesota are 5-0 in their last 5 games against Montreal.
  • The total has gone Under in 5 of Montreal’s last 7 games against Minnesota.
  • Montreal are 2-8 in their last 10 games.

Low Scoring Game on the Cards

Our OddsTrader computer is only predicting 5.3 goals to be scored in this matchup between Montreal and Minnesota, and we are of the same opinion and love the Under 6.5 goal line in this game.

As the trend suggested, five of the previous seven meetings saw the Under hit and both teams finished inside the top 10 in the least amount of goals per game last season, combing for just 5.6 goals.

Defensively, Minnesota had the 6th best defense allowing only 2.7 goals per game, but on the other hand, Montreal allowed the 4th most with 3.7 per game. Thus far this season, both teams have seen one game go Under and another go way Over.

The Pick

It’s still early days this season and crazy results are still occurring, although we like the Under, this game could easily finish on 8/9 goals, it’s just the craziness you get in the early stages of the season.

However, we do fail to see this game kicking off into a high-scoring affair, the Under has hit for the previous 8 games in a row when Montreal has been the home team and amazingly 50% of those 8 had a win-to-zero scoreline.

All eight games combined for an average of 3.8 goals per game, give us the Under in the Canadiens and Wild cross-conference matchup.

NHL Pick: Under 6.5 Goals (-125) at Bet365

Los Angeles Kings vs. Winnipeg Jets

Tuesday, October 17, 2023 – 08:00 PM EDT at Canada Life Centre

Betting Trends

  • The total has gone Over in 5 of Los Angeles’ last 5 games.
  • The total has gone Under in 10 of Winnipeg’s last 13 games against Los Angeles.
  • Los Angeles are 1-4 in their last 5 games against an opponent in the Western Conference.

Kyle Connor (Winnipeg Jets)

So far this season, Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor has averaged 6 shots per game having totaled five and seven shots respectively in his opening two games. Going back to last season, Connor has the most shots on the Jets team averaging 3.32 shots per game (18th overall best in NHL) with the second best for the team being Mark Scheifele’s 2.54.

Connor can get the puck on the net and is most definitely the go-to shooter on this Jets team, he is on fire right now with his six-shot-per-game average and has also scored three goals and one assist, averaging two points per game.

The Pick

Strike while the iron is hot, we say, so let’s get involved with Connor’s shot total to go over for the third game in a row at -120 NHL betting odds.

The Kings have had a horrible start to the season allowing 11 goals in just two games, a Jets team that has averaged 4.5 goals thus far could be in for another high-scoring affair.

NHL Pick: Kyle Connor Over 3.5 Shots (-120) at Bet365

Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Tuesday, October 17, 2023 – 10:30 PM EDT at T-Mobile Arena

Betting Trends

  • The total has gone Under in 4 of Dallas’ last 6 games.
  • The total has gone Under in 12 of Vegas’ last 17 games against Dallas.
  • Vegas are 9-2 in their last 11 games against an opponent in the Western Conference.

Can Dallas Upset Vegas on Home Ice?

It’s the 3-0 Vegas Golden Knights playing host to their number one rivals in the conference this season (in our opinion) the Dallas Stars. The Stars only played one game so far, beating St. Louis 2-1 after regulation.

Meanwhile, Vegas has continued where they left off as Stanley Cup champions, coming into this season red hot having won all three of their opening games allowing only three goals whist scoring ten.

Can the Dallas Stars cause an upset tonight and show the Golden Knights theirs a new boss in town? Possibly, over the course of the season, they have our money but for tonight we are targeting the total to go Under.

The Pick

Look to take Under 6 goals in this big clash between two of the strongest teams in the Western Conference. Just 1 of their previous 10 games saw 7 or more goals scored with a further two ending in a push.

At the very least we should see a push in this matchup, both teams are strong defensively and won’t look to expose themselves when attacking. Wild guess it ends 2-2 after regulation and we see either team win in overtime.

NHL Pick: Under 6 Goals (-115) at Bet365
