San Antonio Spurs vs. Toronto Raptors
Wednesday, February 8, 2023 – 07:30 PM EST at Scotiabank Arena
Fred Van Vleet (Toronto Raptors)
- Over 22.5 Points Scored
The Toronto Raptors are playing their first game at home after a successful 4-3 road trip. They face an assignment tonight in which they’re expected to get the win as they are heavily favored against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Raptors’ most recent outing was a 106-103 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. They showed heart and fought back from a 15-point deficit to get the win.
The Spurs come into this game on a 9-game losing streak. The Spurs have the worst defense in the league and give up 122.6 points per game. Simply put, the Spurs are not able to stop their opponents.
The Pick
Fred Van Vleet only averages 19.5 points per game but he has gone over this point total in three of his last four outings. He put up more than 30 points twice in his last three games.
Now, back at home and against the league’s worst defense, we can expect big things from the Raptors’ point guard tonight.
NBA Prop Pick: Fred Van Vleet Over 22.5 Points (-110) at BetMGM
Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Wednesday, February 8, 2023 – 07:00 PM EST at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
Jalen Duren (Detroit Pistons)
- Over 8.5 Rebounds
The Cleveland Cavaliers come into tonight’s game as winners of three straight games. The average margin of victory in those games is 19 points. The Cavaliers are playing excellent basketball right now. Their most recent game was a 114-91 win over the Washington Wizards.
The Pistons have lost four of their last five games and eight of their last 10 games. Their most recent game was a 111-99 loss to the Boston Celtics on Monday night. The Pistons also have trade rumors consistently swirling around the team which could be affecting the team’s focus.
The Pick
Jalen Duren leads the Detroit Pistons in rebounding, averaging 8.7 rebounds per game. He has gone over tonight’s total in two of his last three games including a 14-rebound effort against the Boston Celtics.
Duren’s season-long rebounding average is depressed because he didn’t play that many minutes to start the year. Over the last 14 games, he’s averaged 9.5 rebounds per game.
With the Cleveland Cavaliers having one of the biggest lineups in the NBA, the Pistons will need Duren’s size tonight. This will be evident as he will continue his recent rebounding excellence. Although the juice is high, this prop will get there.
NBA Prop Pick: Jalen Duren Over 8.5 Rebounds (-169) at Caesars Sportsbook
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Utah Jazz
Wednesday, February 8, 2023 – 09:00 PM EST at Vivint Arena
Walker Kessler (Utah Jazz)
The Utah Jazz are coming off one of their worst performances of the season. They fell 124-111 to the short-handed Dallas Mavericks at home.
Their opponent tonight, the Minnesota Timberwolves, is also coming off an embarrassing performance. The Timberwolves were down by 30 points at the end of the first quarter and lost 146-112 to the Nuggets.
Tonight’s game will feature Rudy Gobert taking on his former team, the Utah Jazz, and going face to face with the man that Jazz drafted to replace him, Walker Kessler.
The Jazz seem to have made the right move by moving to a younger center. In the last game that these two teams played together, Kessler had 20 points and 21 rebounds. The Jazz won 126-125.
The Pick
Walker Kessler has had a double-double in two of his last four games. In Atlanta, he fell short because he only played 18 minutes. In the game against the Mavericks, he ended the game with nine rebounds.
I expect another strong performance from Kessler like the one he put up the last time they played the Timberwolves. This is a great opportunity for the Jazz to once again remind everyone that they made the right decision by moving on from Rudy Gobert.
Walker Kessler will reinforce that idea by getting a double-double tonight.
NBA Prop Pick: Walker Kessler Double-Double / Yes (+150) at Unibet
