USFL Week 3 Odds: Point Spreads, Lines, Results for Every Week 2 Game

Players from the New Orleans Breakers celebrate a touchdown during Week 1 Image from USFL official Facebook page

The first two weeks of the USFL proved to be as adventurous as anyone had hoped. We’re starting to see the real personalities of the rosters and coaching staff shine through. Three teams scored 30 or more points after a low-scoring Week 1.

Our full coverage of the 2022 USFL season continues as we’re recapping the results from Week 2 and previewing the point spreads and lines of Week 3. Everything you need to know about betting on the United States Football League is right here at OddsTrader.  Let’s dive into what happened last week first.

USFL Week 2 Results

New Jersey Generals 10 – Michigan Panthers 6

New Jersey barely pulled out this tight win despite the Michigan Panthers’ offense again showing major issues. The Generals have a defense worth buying into, but the offense just hasn’t quite put together drives that make sense. At 1-1, they’re relevant still. Maybe that’s all that matters right now.

Free Picks: USFL Week 3 Preview and Best Bets

Michigan’s defensive abilities remain as good as any team in the league. However, on offense, it’s probably time to give up on Shea Patterson. The top overall pick simply lacks the accuracy and high-level processing needed to be a starter even at this level. Hopefully, Jeff Fisher gives Paxton Lynch some snaps in Week 3.

Philadelphia Stars 30 – Pittsburgh Maulers 23

Philadelphia made the bold decision to reunite their head coach with quarterback Bryan Scott despite few showing interest in banking on the former Spring League passer. So far, it’s paying off. Scott was excellent for the Stars in their impressive win against Pittsburgh. He completed 26 of 36 passes for 272 yards and four total touchdowns.

Pittsburgh finally showed more life in Week 2 after a highly concerning Week 1 performance. Their defense still has too many talent issues to think they’ll contend for anything this year, though. Tackling and physicality issues throughout the defense plagued them as they couldn’t get a stop to save their life.

Birmingham Stallions 33 – Houston Gamblers 28

The hometown Stallions pulled out an exciting victory against a talented Houston team. It was clear the home-field advantage was real for the first time in the USFL season this week, as Birmingham seemed to feed off the energy around them.

The combination of quarterback J’Mar Smith and receiver Osirus Mitchell showed great chemistry as well.

Houston will hate that they dropped this back and forth battle. They had a big pick-six and forced another key fumble. But their defense also allowed 65-yard and 34-yard touchdowns through the air. Their discipline will determine their ultimate fate.

New Orleans Breakers 34 – Tampa Bay Bandits 3

It’s clear thus far that New Orleans is by far the best team. Larry Fedora wisely built his team on speed, and Tampa Bay had no response to it. Even star quarterback Jordan Ta’amu was completely lost as he tallied just 62 yards and an interception. The Breakers will be a tough team to overcome if their defense can be as overwhelming as the offense.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has to go back to the drawing board after this one. They’re still arguably the second-most talented team but they’re more tied to this passing game than we had hoped. Facing a struggling Houston team in Week 3 may help.
